Blacksheep - Newtown

Love this tiny bar, brings a chilled and local vibe with the ever changing beers on tap. I love the artwork and the live music that's on now and then. staff are super lovely and chilled out, perfect for any recommendations. Definitely coming here more often eatventures.net

There is no shortage of eccentric places in Newtown, in fact the whole suburb is full of enigma or some may say character.  So when I stepped inside Blacksheep, I was not going to question what the hell the decoration was supposed to be.  Animal skulls, a large portrait of Kramer from Seinfeld on the mentalpiece, dark lights, nothing suggested an obvious theme, but everything randomly yet effectively worked together.  The drinks were mainly wine and craft beers. The bar staff patiently took orders from our group of 6 girls, some beer drinkers and others wine.  He made recommendations when necessary and after a long 10 minutes we all got a drink in hand and happily settled in a table near the bar.  It didn't have loud music, it didn't have rowdy patrons, it was laid back and perfect for chill over a glass of drink with friends. thernbdiary.com

Thursday night and there's a woman singing with a great voice, accompanying herself on guitar. Really love live music and that there are some venues in Sydney that are doing this. We stopped in for a quick drink. My mate had a darker beer, and I had a pilsner. The vibe is good, kind of a relaxed sort of rustic living room thing going on. This is one of my favourite bars in Newtown when I'm in the neighbourhood. Dimmy lit lighting with dark wooden furniture and dark walls to create that mysterious vibe, as you walk into this inner city bar. At the back of the bar, there used to be couches but now replaced with long gorilla dining table to cater for a larger group of people. The one thing I love about this place is... You can sit at this bar drink and play board games as if you're at a friend's place drinking. Such a laxed atmosphere! The food menu is simple but tasty and perfectly accompanies the drinks, and reasonably priced, though I'm always astounded at how the humble snack like fries with aioli can fetch premium price of $10! Like hello? What is it made out of? Truffle? Anyhow... The coolness of the bar is worth a visit. You don't have to eat here! Just come and soak in the atmosphere and the hipster vibe of Newtown.

Amazing cocktails. The bartenders really know their stuff. Welcoming, great look to the place as well. Plus there is an ever changing menu. Best small bar in Newtown.
