Malt Pier - Newstead

I visited this restaurant for breakfast on a Saturday and ordered the “pier eggs with bacon, pork sausage, mushrooms, pepperonata, roasted tomato, and sourdough” for $25. The portion was generous, and the dish was beautifully presented with a vibrant mix of colors and flavors. However, I wasn’t pleased with the sourdough being placed underneath everything, as it became soggy and took on a sour taste from the oils of the peppers, mushrooms, and tomatoes. I would have preferred it to be served on the side instead. The atmosphere was lovely, featuring a beautiful view of the river. Although there weren’t many customers, the waitress seemed a bit inattentive; my water wasn’t topped off, and there wasn’t a jug on the table for us to serve ourselves. Despite that, I had a good overall experience with both the food and the environment of the restaurant.

What a wonderful discovery! We've been living in the area for nearly three years, and this is our first visit to Malt Pier. We were really impressed by the attentive and professional service, complete with friendly smiles. We ordered the Malt Pier Monster to share, and it was served on two separate plates, which we really appreciated—it showed the staff's thoughtfulness and effort. They also made sure to keep our water glasses full, going above and beyond to make us comfortable. The stunning view of the river was an added bonus!

Had a fantastic dining experience! The smoked salmon was among the best I've tasted in Brisbane. The coffee was excellent, and everything was served with a friendly smile!

Great food and service went with the elderly parents and there was something for everyone. Small but open and fresh. Beautiful indoor/outdoor dining is especially enjoyable on a lovely day. Close to the river and in a great precinct.
