Safari Room - Newport

Beautiful location. Restaurant was not busy at all, however, the service was extremely slow. Maybe because of wedding at the venue?? Ordered chowder (came out cold) and 2 drinks in an hour and a half while waiting for entrees. Ended up cancelling food and leaving. Will not return

Waited 35 minutes after our reservation time to get seated. Table was available the entire time but was told we were waiting on it (I’m guessing it was a staffing issue and they didn’t want to say that, but it’s better than just a random inaccurate excuse). The hostess was less than helpful but our waitress was lovely. Food was good but not great. Everyone recommended this spot coming to Newport but we were most definitely underwhelmed/disappointed. Would not recommend.

The waiter was very friendly and attentive. The food was outstanding and definitely worth the price!

For the second year in a row, we visited this restaurant for my husband's birthday. Last year was fantastic, so we decided to make a reservation again because the view is truly unforgettable. Unfortunately, the bottle of wine we wanted was sold out, which was disappointing. The pretzel appetizer was tasty, but our main meals were underwhelming. I ordered the salmon, which was supposed to be crusted, but it was mostly sauce on top and the fish was undercooked. My husband ordered the lemon clam pasta, and while it looked good, he said it was just okay. The service was mediocre - we received our appetizers before our wine, and my daughter had to wait so long for Parmesan cheese that her pasta got cold. However, everyone enjoyed the s'mores brownie. We have decided not to return next year.
