Empanada Mama - New York City

My co-workers introduce me to this place wow. The empanadas are big and well filled, not full of air like other places. I can only have two, and I'm stuffed. My favorites are the spicy chicken and shredded beef. Delivery is fast!Food: 5/5

I was so hungry and worried about the wait, since it’s pretty popular. We got there just in time to taste an amazing frozen margarita, delicious yellow rice and beans, that my sister almost bit my hand of trying to sneak a bite. The tostones were the best I’ve had in a long time. Crunchy on the edges and thicker in the middle which is different for me and so damn good! I love me some different. The empanadas to get is the Viagra and Bourbon Chicken. I will not stop raving about these two until the day I die. Magnificent.Of course, our waiter, damn, I didn’t get his name, was amazing. So courteous, so sweet, and made us laugh a lot. Great experience and outstanding food. I am definitely returning to this location.

Cool little spot in the LES with tons of variety of empanadas. I wasn’t starving and only got one Pernil marinated pork. It was delicious! Service was a bit slow but the food is great!

I was really happy to find this 24hr spot on my last day in NYC. It was perfect for a quick brunch by the hotel before heading to the airport. They have three vegan empanadas: portobello, rice beans, and veggie. I got the lunch special for $12.50 which includes your choice or two empanadas with a side of rice and beans. The veggie empanada was my favorite. The filling reminded me a bit of a pot pie. The portobello Empanada was really good also. The mushroom flavor came through strongly and was pretty meaty. It's nice to have 24hr vegan options!Vegetarian options: Several vegetarian options and a few vegan options. They are marked on the menu.Dietary restrictions: Vegan and vegetarian options are marked on the menu. There aren't any gluten free markings on the menu, so I'm not sure if the corn flour empanadas would be okay for gluten-sensitive folk.

Love love love the Empanadas with the guac salsa they give you. Got the Hawaiian Pernil and my husband got the Viagra×2 snuck them in to have at the Regal. They are all so delicious!!!! My husband and I highly recommend the Viagra. The left side of the restaurant is for takeout, while the right side is for dine-in has a minibar. There are seats on the left side too, which I think can be for your quick bite takeout order. You can also order a few drinks to go with a food purchase. The issue we had is that the takeout empanada flavors are not labeled on the bag like the other locations do. So we had to smell and guess which flavors they were. I can see this can be an issue if you order in a group with different flavors.
