Dr Smood - New York City

I had an $8 latte that was quite mediocre, which is pricey even for Manhattan. The coffee tasted like it was made from concentrate and came from a plastic gallon jug, likely sourced from places like Restaurant Depot. I really don't understand how a business like this manages to survive in NYC.

I had the worst oat latte of my life here, and I went twice to give it a second chance. The staff didn't seem happy to be there, and the coffee prices are unreasonably high. I won't be returning.

I'm thrilled that Dr. Smood has opened a location in Tribeca! I order the cold turkey sandwich and Detox No. 9 a few times a week, and both are absolutely delicious. I’ve only ordered through DoorDash so far and haven’t had the opportunity to visit in person yet, but the delivery is prompt, especially compared to other options in the area. The only reason I’m giving it 4 out of 5 stars is that it can be quite pricey.

The BEST soup here! I’ve had both the lentil and the tomato and they were absolutely delicious. I also love the healthy focaccia-type bread they serve with it. Combined with the soup, it makes for a hearty lunch. I also found the staff to be friendly and helpful. I don’t know what all the other grumpy reviews were talking about. My experience has been the total opposite. You think people would cut some slack to these businesses after the hell they went through during the pandemic. But too many people these days just aren’t happy unless they’re being miserable and nasty!

Super rude staff at this location 2 visits and both time got terrible attitudes. My avocado on my sandwich was brown when they served it and I ate it there. I didn’t even bother to tell the lady because when I asked for red pepper flakes which is a seasoning like salt and pepper she said she had to charge me. I’m sorry but it’s a seasoning. In addition she said I could order the one with the hummus to get the red pepper for free. I don’t eat hummus. Clearly they don’t understand that red pepper flakes are a seasoning. If I wanted hummus I would have ordered that food item.
