We started in the restaurant, because there were more taco options on the menu. Something to keep in mind is that they close for a half hour (from 4 to 4:30), so we arrived in the nick of time. I went for the al pastor and mushroom tacos. The tacos are really tasty, but a little on the salty side. After tacos we headed up to the rooftop for drinks and a snack. Y'all, those views are amazing. They're even better with a mezcal margarita in hand and guac on the side. The mezcal margaritas is a nice twist on the classic margarita, with a smoky/slight savory aftertaste. Not something I would have gone for on my own, but it was recommended by the bartender. Guacamole and chips were still pretty well seasoned as well. So in case you missed all the above, go here for views and snacks. Highly recommended.
I don't care about cool or trendy, I'm an April Bloomfield fan! Man... She makes a burger that I dream about, lets see how she can knock out some simple tacos. I'm waiting for my wife and she's running late. Not a biggie, I'm going to grab a cocktail and some light food. There's no need to eat a big lunch, we're talking about tacos! I walk into the space during lunchtime, there's a lot going on. I see the bar area, nah. I want a small booth since it's only little ol' me. I'm sitting at a small two top, all dark and mysterious. My waiter comes over and I said I'm simple, one Salvation Margarita please and fish tacos. Everything comes out at once. My drink? Killer.. the guajillo chili salt on the rim is making the drink very fun and funky. The fish tacos? That's the reason why April is my favorite time of the year. The fish doesn't have a heavy batter andthey taste insane! I could of ordered 4 more but this is an April Bloomfield joint, kinda pricey if you know what I mean. There is Mayan Mayo and pickled red onions on the taco. Now I understand why the Mayans ditched their calendar, they were too busy feasting on tacos. All in all, I had a quick meal and a killer drink. Sure you can get tacos cheaper. I can tell you they're not April Bloomfield chef'd up tacos that tasted yummy. I dig this place!
This review is from last month. My wife and I went to have lunch. My daughter and her boyfriend recommended this place. We were greeted by a friendly staff (hostess waiter). The food was good...flavorful and fresh...but the portion size was a bit smaller than normal. Their deserts were great, especially the churros which was served with hot chocolate. Overall it was a good place to eat, but the portion size may force you to get more apps to make it fulfilling. Lastly, that day in late October was beautiful... unseasonably warm, so it was very warm a bit stuffy inside for majority of the restaurant. May need better ventilation for some of the seating area to make it an enjoyable experience for all.
Where do you begin? The cluster f* k from your initial arrival.... if you want to go to the upstairs roof top you have to get a text confirmation from the hostess... which one? While waiting in one line for what we thought was the upstairs hostess, after 5 people someone finally told us that you have to go to the other hostess at the other end of the restaurant. Then, once you put your name in and you want to get a table and wait... guess what, you 're headed back to the original hostess. Just a suggestion.... put the two kiosks together or better yet, if this is all done by computer, can 't either hostess see what the other and vice versa? Then... you want a drink? One bartender at happy hour for a whole restaurant? Bad decision. Too long of a wait, especially when specialty cocktails are the call of duty. Then the tables and spots at the bar for 2 and being told they are reserved. What non-formal dining spot allows reservations for 2 at the bar or a high top? Suggestion... reservations should be for parties of 5,7 or more. Especially on a Friday, happy hour, or lead in to the long weekend. Biz suggestion.... parties of 2, waiting to be called for the terrace are high turnover... it behooves you to turn customers away. Way too loud, bumped into numerous times because of seating in the middle of the thoroughfare. However, that stated... the carne asada and pollo tacos were reminiscent of something I 've experienced sea side in Rosarito, Baja that made up for the bull ****. That, and my super hot date
Fun Trendy Hotel Restaurant! Salvation Taco is one of those fun trendy restaurants in Murray hill area that will always be busy for the happy hour dinner time. Even though there will be a wait just give them your name and cell phone number and during the warmer months the rooftop is open which is pod39 rooftop so just hang out enjoy some of the most beautiful views of the city and wait for them to text you your table is ready. When you walk in you will notice a long bar the length of the room with many tables which is the main dinning area. My favorite spot of this place is the back room which has a smaller bar and community style seating that is more of lounger with 2 private rooms that have ping pong tables in them which is great for a group of friends or post work happy hour. Now lets get to the food right!!!..... Me and my buddy got drinks and food galore.... the mexican sticky rice tamale w chinese sausage pibil rubbed pork was super sticky and with the hot sauce was unlike anything I have had before and it was delicious that waiter said it was like the way his mother makes it... that sounds good to me. and we got drinks For cocktails we got the SMOKY NEGRONI mezcal, sweet vermouth, bitter cordial, hellfire bitter and WEATHERVANE rye whiskey, rosemary, ginger, bitter liqueur, grapefruit ... These cocktails were made perfectly for the smoky negroni you really taste the smokeness of the mezcal and bitters. For the weathervane can come off really sweet but the mixture of rosemary in there makes it taste sweet and smooth. For dinner we got the tacos which come in pairs of 3 Indonesian beef w house pickled ginger, spiced peanut sauce Kolhrabi , Al Pastor with roasted pineapple avocado salsa , and the Moroccan lamb on roti (1 per order) w cucumber pico de gallo crema... All of these tacos were cooked to perfection with a flavor explosion in your mouth it is like a food cocktail with all the ingredients mixed together perfectly to make every bite so good. The only problem is the portions are just so small so I would not come here hungry. In short: Delicious Cocktails Great food but small portions for the price Great Service for how busy and packed it was Good Date spot Rooftop bar in the building
