The tuna tartare, served with warm zucchini chips, was the ideal appetizer for a cool, rainy day. The lobster roll was generously filled with meat, and the lobster mac and cheese featured a lighter cheese sauce that perfectly balanced the richness of the lobster. Our waiter also provided excellent local recommendations that enhanced our long weekend even more! We will definitely return on our next visit to NYC!
I'm really disappointed to write this review because I've been a huge fan of Ed's for years and used to recommend it to anyone visiting NYC. I hadn't been to the city since Fall 2019, so this was my first time back in a long while. I’ve always loved the lobster ravioli, but tonight, not only was the sauce lacking flavor, but the lobster inside the ravioli tasted overly fishy. It was still decent, but nothing like it used to be. The lobster nachos were awful—there was no lobster, just greasy, somewhat stale chips topped with a subpar cheese sauce, loads of tomatoes, and canned jalapeños. The lobster mac and cheese was also disappointing, featuring a bland sauce and, although some people may like it, we didn't appreciate the green bits that covered the lobster. Additionally, the lobster itself was stringy and mushy. As for the lobster roll, it was surprising how poorly it turned out as well. It had a sharp, acidic taste, almost like lime juice, which was very out of place. Given the high prices, the food was quite mediocre. What a bummer; I’ll really miss the good Ed’s!
The lobster roll was fantastic! It's a great place for a quick meal. The interior is pretty basic in terms of decor and ambiance. The lobster roll is priced at market value, which was $35 today, and after adding tax and tip, it came to about $45 each. Also, there’s no happy hour on Fridays. A helpful tip: avoid sitting outside. You'll be positioned over a subway grate with hot, unpleasant air blowing your way. It’s better to choose indoor seating.
Good lobster roll by all standards. But, priced about $8 higher than average. Service was attentive, sincere and just great! The outstanding dish is the lobster ramen! Go for it. I almost forgot, the mojitos are made very well.
I absolutely love Ed's Lobster Bar! I've been going there for over 12 years now, and it remains my top choice. There's no other way to put it. The lobster roll is definitely the highlight, but everything else on the menu is equally impressive. Ed's dishes are creatively inspired yet wonderfully straightforward. Some of my favorites include the salad (seriously, I'm not joking), the linguini, the scallops when they're available, the sliders, the soup, the chilled lobster, and the new ramen, which is fantastic. Be sure to get whatever comes with sides because the fries are incredible!
