I was very impressed from the beginning to the end. Appetizers were Lizardi Rolls Bacon/Cheese Fries. Entries were original Stuffed Bell pepper with frits and a house salad. Fried Fish Shrimp with red beans. Also a Hot Sausage Poboy and Fried Fish with Fritten (both not shown) I'll visit Cafe Dauphine when in town. I suggest you try not to be disappointed.
Visited this place on 8/30 and it was amazing! Everything was delicious! I had lizardi rolls, a taste of a table mate's crabcake, the redfish florentine. OMG. I must go back!
First time visiting Cafe' Dauphine! The atmosphere and interior design is fabulous. The tones are warm and diverse with white tablecloths are a combination of romance and dinner with friends. Our server was very calm and polite. While Cafe Dauphine is EXTREMELY clean. The food had its highs and mediums. The portions sizes were great. The prices were well worth it. The stuffed peppers is what I consumed, but did not enjoy. The stuffing was mixed with seafood boil which is NOT okay with Louisiana Cuisine. The side salad was wonderful with high quality ingredients and greens. The fried fish was cooked hard and the grease needed to be changed prior to frying it. The bread pudding was okay. The pasta, according to my friend who consumed it, lacked the alfredo flavor. The cheesecake that was purchased was gorgeous and appeared gourment style. The eggrolls were great, although I dislike cooked cabbage. Another friend loved the ribs. All of the side items were fresh and not canned or bagged, which is great. Overall, I would visit again and would recommend it. But it seems the side items and appetizers were more worthy of consumption than the entrees.
Cozy, quiet atomsphere. Food cooked fresh, you can smell your dish being prepared! Friendly, family oriented staff, very attentive. Pasta was creamy enough to share. Egg rolls were soft and favorable. They give your money's worth!???
BEST! MEAL! IN NEW ORLEANS!!! HANDS DOWN!!! (Sorry if this review runs long. Not just the best meal, but also the best dining experience. Let's go ahead and get this out of the way. If you're not comfortable driving in lower income areas (the hood , I'd suggest you go in the day time. The area may look a little sketchy, but it's well worth the drive. The interior of the restaurant is gorgeous. No gawdy decor. Simplistic, yet elegant. Totally the opposite of what you'd expect based on the area it's located. My server, Alaina, I believe here name was. Went over the menu with me. Even suggested that I order the seafood platter since I mentioned that I was in New Orleans strictly for the seafood. Food came out piping hot! I promise I heard a choir start singing in the background as she brought my food to the table. Everything was seasoned to Perfection! Tasted as if they had a lake behind the restaurant and took the seafood right out of the water and cooked it for me. That's how fresh it tasted. My girlfriend had the sausage po boy and Oh. My. Damn! I don't know what it was seasoned with. But I never tasted any sausage like that before in my life! The bread was crispy and soft. (Unlike that stale cardboard I got at Neyow. Truthfully speaking. This is the meal I envisioned on my first trip to New Orleans. Friendly wait staff, welcoming atmosphere, and food cooked with love. Thank all of you that made this possible for me. P. S. Don't sleep on the wings! DELICIOUS! WHO DAT!!
