Richards - New Haven

Today we revisited Richard's in New Haven and had a fantastic experience. We ordered the broasted chicken, which was cooked to perfection, and the potatoes and green beans were served piping hot. I’m so glad to see they've found a fantastic cook! Our server, Sarah, was exceptional as always!

We truly enjoy the charming small-town atmosphere at Richard's Restaurant. I ordered the bacon cheddar burger, adding extra toppings of mushrooms and lettuce, and it was so large that I ended up taking half of it home. My husband had the ham and cheese omelet, which was also quite filling. Our food was delicious, and the service was provided by friendly staff who felt like neighbors. We also discovered that they offer apple dumplings year-round. If you're looking for great food at reasonable prices in a welcoming environment, this is the place for you. Richard's has been a favorite dining spot for my family for decades.

I visited Richards in New Haven on Sunday, August 7, with my wife, and we both ordered the Swiss Steak special. Unfortunately, the Swiss Steak was so tough that it was inedible. We inquired about making an adjustment to our bill since we did eat the salad and baked potato, but we were informed that nothing could be done because the type of meat used can sometimes be tough. While we do enjoy their chicken and have visited before, we can find broasted chicken at many other places, so there's no reason to return to Richards after this experience. It's disappointing, as it feels like we’ve lost a customer over this issue. There are plenty of other local independent restaurants where I can spend my money. It seems that the customer isn't always right.

Absolutely wonderful! Finally, I received my Beef Hash Extra Crispy just as I had ordered! The service was very attentive. I missed the place that was previously open, but it’s great to have found this one. I’ll definitely be back soon! Thank you!
