We ate here during covid, when outside dining was allowed, July 2021, our picnic table almost toppled over when 2 people sat on one side before someone had sat on the opposite bench only reason I 'm giving it 4 stars, not 5. I had the bangers and mash excellent. Two farmers sausages with an 'ice cream scoop ' of mashed potatoes and cooked veggies which included several grilled vegetables delicious. The menu had some authentic Scottish fare, I don 't think my teenage kids cared for it but a gastropub doesn 't aim for that demographic. My wife had the vegetable curry which was a masala but when I tried it the taste seemed very similar to a butter chicken so, the vegetable curry is like a butter chicken without the chicken.
In a strip mall, in the middle of nowhere, is where I had one of my best culinary experiences. The place looks like your typical sports bar with really bad 90's music playing. Usually that will bring down the best reviews to a 3. That being said, the taste and the quality of the food can make me overlook those drawbacks. The scotch eggs were very good, the haggis, neeps and taties were perfection. The sticky pudding and cranoch desserts were made to perfection as well. You must be into hearty Scottish cuisine to fully appreciate this place. They have burgers, sandwiches and such but I love my Haggis!
In New Hamburg/Luxemburg Ontario stands a bar that you would not think to see. Or at least not me. The place is a Scottish Pub and it is real nice. This will be my haunt during my assignments out there. The staff is great, the selection of beers is fine, the fare is good, and the amber nectar from Scotland is a plenty! Only if I can find a decent hotel near the place...heck...sleep in the car!
We enjoyed our dinner here. Our server was awesome! Really made you feel welcome. 3 of us had the fish and chips. Chips were great And the fish was good but not great! Would probably order it again. Coleslaw needs to be revitalized...
