We went on Tuesday night and they were full. I knew the food had to be good. We waited about 40 minutes for placement. I don't mind, though I understood they were busy. As soon as we sat down and ordered our food, we waited a while. They were super busy, but the hosts and waiters did their best to take us. Honestly, it was worth waiting for food. Our sushi was great and went within minutes. If I had lived here, I'd be a normal one. They were open about the closing time btw. We'll be back. I highly recommend you if you want Japanese food and sushi. 10/10!
We had a really great dinner here. Everything that we ordered was very good, as was the service. We were actually surprised when we got the bill that it was as affordable as it was. We will definitely be back. My fiance used to live in Japan and this is the closest we've found for authentic Japanese food in the area. The miso soup is especially flavorful; it's probably the best I've had. Definitely try it!
Fresh and delicious. Fish was super buttery in texture and delicious in flavor. Really big menu with lots of pictures so there’s something for everyone. Japanese owned and the staff was super friendly. We had a delicious meal (no drinks, 1 app, two specialty rolls) for less than $50 bucks including tip. Photos are the rainbow roll and sonobana rolls.
This is the second best Japanese restaurant in Nashville area. (Hanabi, now closed, was the best and will be forever. Ambience in Sonobana is low key, 90’s style restaurant that is dated but clean. Dinner is always busy but not very long waits on weekdays. There is a full Japanese menu. The iced green tea is amazing with a hint of cooked rice flavoring (like Ochazuke and amazing. The house warm saki is great. Sushi is always fresh. Fatty tuna is available, so try it! I order sashimi (Chirashi , so I demand freshness and consistency and they deliver every time. The staff are pleasant, attentive and warm. The sushi chefs run about 10 minutes from order but when busy it can be 15. Order a $2 bowl of the best miso soup while you wait. You will remember it! The real winner is the selection of inexpensive Bento meals! For those who don’t frequent Japanese restaurants frequently, this traditional Japanese assortment will give you a sampling of what the kitchen can do. Definitely worth it.
We had a great dinner experience here. The service was lovely and the food was incredible. Their ginger salad dressing was way better than your standard fare hibachi or takeout restaurants. The sushi was so fresh and delicious. My favorite roll was the Sonobana roll. It has an amazing texture to complement the excellent taste. We also had an eel bowl that did not last long enough to get a photo. The eel was very tender and well seasoned.
