The portions were generous - my partner got a pound of pulled pork and we had enough food for lunch and dinner. The Mac and cheese was a hit with our children and there was still plenty left over. The mac and cheese was amazing! I also tried the tangy coleslaw, which I usually don't like, but this was the best I've ever had.
Excellent bbq .love the sose and smoky bbq from natural wood. and the owner is super personable we will come back!
My hubby and I were visiting Murphys today and wanted to stop for a bite to eat. We came across this place called Gypsy BBQ and decided to give it a try. To start, Everyone working there was really nice and friendly , that's always a plus. So our first impression upon entering was great. I ordered the tri tip and my husband ordered the pulled pork sandwich. My tri tip came with coleslaw and baked beans which I substituted with potato salad. To drink I had hibiscus lemonade...yum! Everything was soooo delicious! My tri tip was tender, had a perfectly smoked flavor and the BBQ sauce was amazing, tangy with just the right amount of kick! The coleslaw was fresh and not drowning in mayonnaise which I am accustomed to and the potato salad was made with red potatoes and was simple yet delicious and just the right amount. I would say the only thing missing from my meal was maybe a piece of bread, that would've made it the perfect meal. I was full but not stuffed. I honestly loved it and will definitely go back again. I would recommend this place to my family and friends with no hesitation.
On the one year anniversary of visiting this restaurant, I found that the food remained excellent just like it was a year ago. The staff was fantastic and their recommendations were outstanding. The small outdoor seating area was perfect for enjoying a meal after a day-long wine event in the town of Murphy's across the street. The restaurant is easy to locate, as it is situated on the same property as a gas station. Simply follow the scent of the outdoor BBQ smoker to find your way there.
I love the idea of this place they had me at Gypsy! Lol we ordered a 2 meat platter beef brisket, pulled pork, chicken or tri tip. We did the tri tip and pulled pork. The meats were very tasty, but I was a little disappointed in the portion size which I felt was a bit small for the price. It comes dry with a side of barbecue sauce, and a single portion of beans and coleslaw. No bread. The sauce was very interesting very tomatoey. Don't get me wrong, it was delicious, but all I could think was how much better it would be on an angel hair pasta or ravioli. Potato salad was a bit bland but the coleslaw was a pleasant surprise. On a scale of 1 to 10, my husband hates coleslaw, but he LOVED this! So I can't give it a higher rating than that! LOL The beans were good, on the sweet side. I have to say however, my favorite thing on the plate was the bright pink pickled onions! They were absolutely delicious! The tissue thin sliced pickles were also quite a treat.Be warned: there is no indoor dining here and seating is very limited. They have big barrel tables with tall seats, which is a challenge for hobbits such as myself. But I found the tables were high enough that I could eat standing as well. The smoker is right out in front, so you will be able to get good and hungry before the food arrive!
