Their food choices were great, unless you have dietary issues, they cater to Lactose and Gluten issues (1-2 options), but not Fructose friendly (chips are battered, for a start). The food was delicious, the portions weren't over the top. We had burgers, fish and chips and nachos - all were spot on. Acoustics are awesome - you can barely hear the table behind you talking, background conversations are a low murmur (even when its packed) you can talk normally without having to worry about being heard - great eating place to take someone with a hearing difficulty (my family includes the hard of hearing).Main complaint: Hard to find a table - get in early! :)
Going to the National Arboretum is a unique experience. Awesome. Cafe is very nice with gorgeous views over Canberra. There can be a bit of a queue but service is good and friendly. Absolutely worth the visit. Great playground for kids.
We went there for lunch. It wa really busy day and the kids took time to order ther food but the guy at the counter was very patience. The The kids loved the quiche lorraine and sausage roll, one of the best that they ever had!! We enjoyed our food as well, the burger was absolutely delicious. Thank you for amazing food and wonderful service.
We popped in here at 3pm on a Sunday for an afternoon coffee. It was really busy, but I'm not sure why. The coffee was OK, but the service was poor and the food was only OK too. I've been here three other times and the service has always been frosty and the food looks delicious but doesn't live up to expectations.
The stunning architecture and wonderful views are the main assets of this cafe. The coffees were average and muffins OK but both could have been much better. On the positive side, there are ample tables to cope with the large visitor numbers and many of the botanical displays are interesting. The cafe, like the Arboretum itself, is well suited to families with young children.
