Hacienda El Sombrero - Mount Prospect

While the food has generally been good, it hasn't quite reached greatness. Unfortunately, our experience in 2022 was marred by concerning service. We were a table of six and had to wait a long time just to place our drink order. After that, we waited over an hour for our food, despite the restaurant being less than half full. In fact, a couple who was seated after us managed to order, eat, and leave before our meals arrived. Despite being an understanding group, the service was incredibly slow and disappointing. What really left a sour impression was how quickly the staff came to collect the bill and tip after we had waited so long for our food—it felt quite tacky. On a positive note, the owner seems to be a hardworking and genuinely nice person, and I believe he cares about his customers. I hope our experience was just a one-time occurrence. I would still recommend this restaurant, but I have some reservations based on how we were treated during our last visit.

At that point, I kindly decided to take my business elsewhere. I refuse to spend money at a place with such poor customer service. It's worth noting that this was around 2 PM, and there was only one other table occupied by two people—it certainly wasn’t crowded. I'm just really disappointed that I didn’t even get a chance to try their margaritas.

Wow, everything from the chips to the final drink was incredible! I highly recommend this restaurant; the food is consistently excellent every time we visit. We even travel 25 minutes just to dine here, so be sure to try their pozole verde and micheladas!

My absolute favorite place to go. The fresh food and flavors, topped with perfectly crafted drinks excellent service brings me back every time.

Really yummy spot. Great friendly service. Very clean, you can tell they really take pride in their restaurant, such cute decor. My friend picked this spot for lunch and it was great. I had the molcajete fajitas, so delicious!! And even the next day, they tasted amazing. My friend is vegetarian, and what I notice from other spots, this place offered Spinach enchiladas burritos, instead of just cheese. She really liked them. So that was cool. For you mezcal drinkers, they have it here. I know that is currently not being served everywhere, but this spot has it. I really want to come back and try more dishes. Highly recommend this spot.
