My favorite is the western omelet with salsa, which is embroidered above. The vegetables are crisp and the meat is delicious. I usually add a page of home roasted potatoes and wheat bread toast. The waitresses are friendly and personal. The price is always right. This morning I took my wife and oldest daughter. Our bill was just $25. We tend to engrave towards smaller mother and pop operations. Such a refreshing change from the run of the big franchise restaurant chains.
Your typical biscuits and gravy homestyle type of restaurant. Massive menu full of anything you can imagine. Burgers, pancakes, spaghetti, tater tots. Better than the rest in town and always full up. Also one of the last places to serve oatmeal.
The Staff was friendly and answered questions well. The food arrived quickly. I had the fried cod with green beans and a baked potato, with unsweetened tea. The fish looked good and tasted good, but was a smallish serving. The hush puppies they brought (only 2) were tiny and hard but the dough was good and they would have been pretty good had they been made larger. The potato was good, but had been rolled in coarse salt, so my doctors would be appalled to know I ate the whole thing. There was no butter available, only two brands of margarine. The sour cream was real, and the tea (Luzianne) was quite good. Service was great until after the check was delivered at mid-meal, after which I had trouble getting their attention to get a refill on my tea. Overall this was a good experience and the prices were good (although somewhat higher than what was on the website). We would not hesitate to eat there again.
It has been in the same place for so long for a reason. The food is great. They have a good variety to choose from but my favorite is the home style cooking. The service is great also. Well worth the stop.. we go often.
However, my brother-in-law’s catfish was overcooked—dark brown and crunchy-dry. Fortunately, my sister’s catfish was like mine, perfectly prepared. When I reordered, I asked for my catfish to be made the same way as my brother-in-law’s. The server brought a plate stacked with catfish; some pieces looked perfect while others were burnt around the edges. One thing I really appreciate about this restaurant is that they allow you to switch your sides when you reorder. I tried the fried apples and coleslaw, and I enjoyed both very much. The coleslaw was finely chopped and refreshing, and the fried apples still had a nice crispness to them. I would definitely return to this restaurant, but next time I’ll make sure to check the bill before I pay, as we realized at home that we were charged twice for our drinks.
