La Diligence - Montpellier

The restaurant has a lovely feel and the Whisky menu was great only slight downside they brought 3 small bites before we started eating as one contained shellfish i declined it was just taken off the plate and not replaced bit disappointing. However the food we did have was very tasty indeed.

Our family of four went to this restaurant for dinner. We speak French, travel extensively and made reservations in advance. The service was poor both snobbish and inattentive. The octopus appetizer was good and the duck had good flavor but needed to be cooked longer to render the fat (a knowable problem in a signature dish). The beef was awful and the desserts were mediocre. Given all the great restaurants in France, skip this one.

I had booked a table before flying to Montpellier and was expecting something extraordinary – and it was not. Yes, the food and wine were ok, but nothing extraordinary. The dinner cost us (four pax) approx. 3 times more compared to the other restaurants we visited during the week. I am not saying the price was too high, but is was just not three times as good. Btw . we booked a table in the inner court of the restaurant and that was extraordinary!

High. meals (4 services) excellent, textures and tastes at the rendezvous, accompaniments and specialised hot breads for each dish, accompanied perfectly with the suggested wines. I also liked the dishes and the fact that there is a small background music. the atmosphere is good without being disturbing and the service is of quality. On the other hand, I found it abused that the 2 decacoons are at 9€, it is more expensive than in Montmartre. If you have no financial restrictions to go without hesitation, your taste buds will thank you.
