When we explained the situation, they called the police, claiming we were trying to get away without paying. It’s disheartening to face such assumptions, especially as a group of African Americans, and we were made to feel like we were being treated as criminals or scammers. After waiting for 30 minutes, we called the police ourselves to find out what was taking so long. It took law enforcement to clarify that the extra charges should be ignored. They suggested the restaurant review their security footage to confirm our account. Instead of addressing the issue fairly, we felt treated as if we were trying to dine and dash. This experience highlights the ongoing challenges faced by Black individuals in America, where prejudice often influences perceptions and treatment. We waited because we are honest people and wanted to do the right thing, but this establishment’s behavior was completely unacceptable. In the end, they apologized and offered one of our guests a $50 gift card, as if that could make up for ruining a birthday dinner. I felt compelled to share this lengthy review so that others might be aware of how African American groups can be treated at places like this. It would be more honest for establishments to openly state that they do not welcome certain groups, saving everyone time and energy. What a disappointing way to celebrate a special occasion.
This restaurant is quite spacious with outstanding seating service. The staff is exceptionally courteous and polite. The food was decent, though I might not have ordered the best entrees. However, I would definitely return for the grilled chicken chimichanga, which was fantastic. The pollo asada chicken was also good. The chips and salsa were amazing! The prices are a little on the higher side, though.
The bean dip and salsa were satisfactory, and the service was friendly and quick. This is the first Tex-Mex restaurant I've encountered that didn't offer sour cream sauce for the chicken enchiladas—only queso was available. While it wasn't bad, the chicken inside consisted of plain, unseasoned shredded chicken breast, which tasted like it came straight from a deli rotisserie chicken. I might give it another try and ask for fajita chicken enchiladas this time, but overall, these were just not remarkable.
Lunch Specials are $12, $13. We wanted chili sauce on two entrees and were charged $3.50 each EXTRA without being told first. Food not at all what we were used to. Not appetizing looking. Did not enjoy at all. $16.50 for lunch is ridiculous, especially when you can't eat it because it looks so unappealing.
Best TexMex of the Louisiana Delta.. Delicious chicken taco salad..hands down the best I've had
