This is the best tea I've ever had! They serve the finest Pakistani and Indian tea, which they refer to as "Swahili." It truly reminds me of tea back home. I hope that everyone from India and Pakistan will enjoy this tea as much as I do. (6-4-2019)
After a walk in the old town I stayed here lunch and was met with good service n good food. People here are just talking. Recommed!
Nice place to have a meal after a visit to Fort Jesus. It has a view of the ocean that also provides a cool breeze as you enjoy your drink.
Mombasa's best kept secret! I stumbled upon this restaurant quite by chance. Tucked in between two of Mombasa's historical landmarks, Fort Jesus and Mombasa Club, you can easily find Old Town Restaurant right next to the curio shops. The restaurant is very well decorated, making a fine balance between modern art deco and antique Mombasa collectibles with little notes of history here and there. What makes this place, however, is the scenery, and, of course, the food. In most cases, one would comment on the food first, but Old Town Restaurant sits right next to Fort Jesus, and the view is simply breathtaking. The restaurant's veranda sits between the sea and the fort, which makes for an amazing, though windy, dining experience. The menu is quite simple for now, limited to mostly finger dishes. I tried their shawarma, which was excellent served fast and very well prepared. I look forward to trying out some of the other dishes when I return. All in all, the Old Town Restaurant is a must try. For history buffs, while away an afternoon here, and take a trip into the past, for it is here that invaders, traders and explorers first made their way into Mombasa centuries ago.
