フィードバックを提供するI recently visited the old Sugar location. Unfortunately, we weren't greeted by the host when we arrived. The waitress seemed quite overwhelmed, especially since we had a large party. The drinks were quite pricey, and the food lacked flavor—it wasn't salty at all. I didn't have a great impression of the place overall. They are in the process of renovating the restaurant, and it looks quite messy right now. The highlight of the evening was definitely the singer Tasha and her band; they really brought the energy when she performed!
The food was fantastic; we tried the loaded fries and walleye. We visited on Saturday morning, and there were no crowds. However, I was disappointed that there was no host to greet us when we arrived. We stood there while the staff chatted and laughed amongst themselves. I believe the management needs to ensure that everyone is in their respective positions and ready to assist customers as they walk in. It’s simply good business practice. Despite this issue, I’m still inclined to give this place 5 stars because the food was truly excellent.
The ambiance of the restaurant and the service need significant improvement, especially given the prices. While the servers were friendly and did their best, the speed of service was clearly lacking. The table next to us experienced similar issues; everyone received their food, except for one person who had to leave because their meal came out after the others had finished. I also noticed a server simply flipping a tablecloth instead of replacing it, as dirty plates and glasses were left unnoticed. Overall, we were very disappointed with the service and won’t be returning. I attribute this lack of service to management. The new location needs a redesign and update, including improved signage. While the option to order and pay online is a great idea, it should translate to faster service, which was not the case here. Additionally, they automatically added a 20% tip even when the level of service did not warrant it. I really hope that customers receive better service in the future, and I trust that this feedback will be taken to heart for the improvement of the customer experience.
Two stars for dinner. I ordered the catfish and shrimp flours, none of which was to write home. Both the catfish and the shrimp were heavily ground, with minimal spice. We also ordered hot wings that were hard and seriously over cooked, we tried to eat them, but decided our teeth were more important. To order, you need to scan a QR code and order it using the Toast app. First, I was not enthusiastic about this process, but decided to order it was a convenient way. It was also easier to order additional items from the bar or kitchen. A problem with this method? Our server did not stop at our table to check if we needed anything else. We had to show other servers for items, such as food of utensils, glass for beer, napkins, hot sauce, etc. We had a fantastic concert, and I will return to enjoy others, but not by eating.
Had a great dinner. The food was delicious. We ordered to go. The atmosphere was beautiful and the service was great. It wasn't packed. The food was delicious.
