We wanted to have a special meal as it was our anniversary and after walking around Minori, we saw this restaurant and the owner was very nice and after my fiancé explained she was Celiac he said he catered for this type of condition and welcomed us back for 7pm when we booked this time slot. When we arrived there wa only 2 people in the restaurant so we should have taken this as a sign. We thought we were just early. So, my fiancé ordered chicken breast in a pomodora sauce and a green salad. I jokingly said wouldn’t it be funny if the green salad came and it was just a bowl of ice burg lettuce……..well I must have had an intuition as that exactly what it was. We couldn’t believe it and they charged £4 for it!!! The chicken was cold and my food which was pasta with shellfish looked like something they threw away at the end of service. We were totally shocked. All this and 2 glasses of house wine for £56. I was waiting for JeremyBeadle to jump out and surprise us but I realised he was long dead and this was actually happening. What a way to celebrate your anniversary. We were both to shocked to say anything and left in disbelief. No surprise that this restaurant was so quiet on a busy night in Monori. We spent the next hour looking for somewhere that serviced gluten free fries. I guess it doesn’t pay to have an eating condition or any sense of taste. Avoid at all costs.
Trovandoci a Minori, bel paese della costiera amalfitana, abbiamo deciso di tornare dopo anni in questo piccolo locale, un po’ sottoposto rispetto al livello stradale e in posizione non appariscente. Ricordavamo un ambiente interno piccolo ma accogliente e ne abbiamo trovato conferma. Confessiamo che all’inizio l’intensa attività come pizzeria, anche da asporto, ci ha lasciati un po’ perplessi, ma l’occhiata al menu ci ha subito tranquillizzati. Abbiamo cominciato con un sauté di cozze e vongole e polipo grigliato su crema di patate, a seguire linguine agli scampi e paccheri con vongole, zucchine e gamberetti: tutti piatti di buona preparazione, ma quel che veramente sorprende di questi tempi è la quantità da trattoria di una volta. Sia chiaro: una quantità che non nuoce alla qualità e che non ti aspetteresti sia in relazione al prezzo sia conoscendo le “abitudini” dei ristoranti nei luoghi di mare. Anche volendo non avremmo potuto andare oltre. Servizio preciso e cordiale e buona carta dei vini soprattutto locali con ricarichi nella media. Noi speriamo che questa trattoria mantenga questo standard anche nella stagione estiva, perché è anche in questo modo -senza fronzoli ma efficace- che si difende la tradizione italiana.
