I ordered the bone in rib eye, which was perfectly seared and seasoned. But the star of the show was the crab cake. The cake was essentially just hunks of a California crab. Seared so there was a crunchy outer layer. By far the best crab cake I've ever had. Be warned though, the one cake cost $24, but still worth it.
Came here with my wife while kids stayed back with the grandparents. Not a kid friendly restaurant just like most chophouses. Service was quite good. They are not quite as upscale as they are trying convey but very decent. The lump crab cake was excellent. Reminded me of a Morton's style crab cake and was nearly there. They were served as three smaller medium sized crab cakes lump crab with a little bit of pancetta. One of the best I have had in a long time and would be in the top 5 of Ontario based establishments. I had the bone in ribeye medium rare cooked perfectly to temperature. They cut half the bone off to fit the plate so do not be surprised. My wife had the confit and Cornish hen. It was not good. In fact the server realized this without us saying anything and comped that meal. Sides we had creamed spinach and kale. Way too runny from what we are use to, would not recommend. However we also had the Mac and cheese at gratin and the Mexican corn. Both were delicious. Price point is probably a little high to the quality level of food. That being said we are 2.5 hours from downtown Toronto in an area not known for fine dining (peak season last 2 months of the year). My wife had the magical lava cake which was excellent. Drinks were refreshed in time and overall service was very good. I would recommend if you are in the area to eat here for sure. Just keep in mind where you are and enjoy.
We had an excellent experience here. Our server, Brendan, was just great. We shared the beef tartar and crab cakes, which were great. Then we shared the steak (we had it rare plus which I recommend), Mac n cheese (which was awesome), kale (meh) and overly buttery mashed potatoes. They surprised us with dessert for a celebration we were having. The women all got red roses. It was lovely.
Disgusting food!!! We personally did not enjoy any part of anything at this place. Although the staff is very friendly and the ambiance is lovely (that 's why they for a star at all) thanks to the Marriott standards. They consider themselves a family restaurant, children welcome environment, although they so t offer a children 's menu or any sort of substitution, which was a complete disappointing situation ! Since we have made reservations a head of time and were very much looking forward to come here. After a long negotiation with 2 managers some front staff and the executive chef, they finally decided to accommodate. After the long debate we were very much looking forward to our dinners; that 's when we were completely and permanently turned off!! My nearly 40$ Chechen breast was minuscule, burned! And dried to a crisp, barely eatable, the $8 sides barely met me home cooking standards (especially the mashed potatoe) tasted like bland baby food, and not to mention the horrid experience we had with the filet!! To keep that story short and sweet, it was extremely undercooked and STINKY and yes it smelled BAD! Of course it was sent back asap and never to be ordered again! Only to learn at the end of our 'lovely ' pre new year as dinner that, that was a piece of dear! Yes we ate Rudolph !!!! YUK!!! Never again!! Try tecca or cottages and even lakes lounge is great! on the last day, we had lunch before our drive back home at Cottages next door! And had the exact same chicken breast as an 'add on ' to my salad and instead of $38 I paid $8!!! Same kitchen, same meat! and cooked much better. $30 less!!! Yes same kitchen and even same chef.... Dealing ripped off!
Ate dinner here with my family on September 01. I am giving them 3 stars for trying to be a premium steakhouse and charging high prices but delivering quality that is less then what Milestones or Jack Astor's delivers. Appetizers were the Maryland Crab Cake, Wedge Salad and Caesar Salad. The plates they serve the salads on and actually all courses are flat slabs of stone which make eating the salads an exercise in frustration as the salad contents slide off of the plate onto the table. The Crab Cake was mostly crab but very uninspired from a seasoning and presentation basis. The Wedge Salad was literally a wedge of Ice Berg lettuce with dressing drizzled over and very difficult to cut and eat. The Caesar Salad had way too much lemon and a overall strange taste. Mains were a Bone In Ribeye that was actually quite tasty albeit with a non existent bone and a New York Strip that was overcooked and tasted bitter. Normally in premium steak houses they would ask you if your steak was cooked to our liking and would grill them a bit less then what you expect to allow for fixes. Unfortunately here they error on the side of over cooking and don't ask you anything about your meal, so they miss the opportunity to get better. Sides were grilled asparagus and garlic mashed potatoes, both of which tasted good but how can you mess that up. Deserts were the highlights with the Creme Brûlée, Pistachio Cheese Cake and an authentic and very tasty Baked Alaska. Kudos here to the apparent onsite pastry chef. Restaurant could learn from visiting actual premium steak houses and bringing back new recipes, grilling and presentation techniques and how to solicit customer feedback to improve delivery.
