Kanpai Izakaya - Milwaukee

I entered this restaurant with high expectations. Despite it being fairly empty, the atmosphere and music were perfect. I sat at the bar, ready to order.

This is the best sushi restaurant I have ever been to! It's better than any place in Milwaukee and Chicago. You can't find anything better. I love the flame sushi rolls and everything on the menu is amazing.

I am not originally from the Milwaukee area and have only been living here for about 3 years. During my time here, I have had the opportunity to try many of the sushi restaurants in the area.

Strange place. A huge facade with an almost hidden entrance covers a very long room that feels more like a corridor, containing generously-spaced, but very small tables, in a way that one feels compressed amidst lots of empty room. Food ok, nothing special. Personnel desperately needs training.

The food was good, but the service was a little bit slow, and no one would ever clear any dishes. It makes me crazy. Please just take the dirty dishes when you walk away from the table. Repeatedly our server left the table without taking any dirty dishes. The bathroom wasn't super clean. It was out of soap, paper towels.
