The place was almost empty but they were happy to serve us. I had a hamburger because I wasn't sure I'd be able to get one for the next 3 weeks. It was very good and loaded with all the produce on the fancy side. You get your choice of cheese so I opted for the swiss. And it came with a ton of delicious fries. I could only eat half so I ate the other half for breakfast. Yet again, another successful park and fly experience with the shuttle service the following morning.
I went to Terrace Cafe with a group seniors on a Monday morning. It was pretty quiet and we pretty much got the whole place to ourselves. The service was good and our server was very accommodating to our group and was very polite the entire time. I made a special order for the fettuccine with pesto sauce instead of pesto cream sauce. The noodles were a little over cooked for me but the sauce was fine. Others in my group raved about the salmon. The restroom isn't convenient for those who may have difficulties with going down stairs.
It's sort of behind a hotel so it was almost hard to find. Plenty of parking. And they are friendly and greeted me upon entering. I ordered the Flatiron Steak, which was filling but it was just okay. None of the flavors stood out.
An amusing exchange heard at the check-in desk of the Terrace Cafe 's mother hotel the BW El Rancho: Guest checking in: So what 's a good restaurant around here? Front Desk Guy: .... you mean ASIDE from the hotel restaurant? Let 's be real here though, hotel restaurants aren 't known for their greatness, more their convenience and general passability. Terrace Cafe is a pretty place though, and the staff was very friendly and attentive. Was I dazzled? Eh. But maybe that 's my fault, I went with a safe dish. Prices are about what you 'd expect for a hotel restaurant, a bit steeper than average. I ordered up their caesar salad, and since it was my dinner entree I added the grilled chicken for $4.00 more. Though they have a decent sized wine list, by the glass options are minimal, and I was defaulted into a lackluster Chardonnay. Whatever, it made my toes feel fuzzy, so it did its job. The caesar was very generous, piled up high with chicken. A simple caesar, nothing flashy, spiced up nicely with a few grinds of fresh cracked pepper. And while the chopped grilled chicken was piled high, my salad came out way too fast and the chicken was way too cold to have been grilled up to order, so naturally the chicken was a bit dry. The salad, croutons and parm were also tossed in the caesar dressing prior to adding the chicken, which didn 't help. A quick request to my server of a little dish of extra dressing solved the problem nicely. All in all, $23 for a generous salad and a glass of wine is pretty decent. Especially if you 're staying at the El Rancho and feeling a bit lazy, and that McDonald 's across the street is most definitely NOT calling your name. The folks dining around me all seemed happy, and I left with a full belly. While not a memorable meal, it did its job fine. My main gripe? Fresh chicken please, I 'm happy to wait an extra 7 or so minutes for fresh juicy chicken, truly!
Met at the bar for Dinner and Drinks with co-workers before departing on a week long business trip. It was Monday evening, so maybe that's why, but the service was sub-par. I arrived later than my friends, and it took 15 minutes for them to notice me and take my drink order... another 15 for me to get my iced tea, despite my friends getting refills on their beers... We finally got our servers attention and ordered food... and that's when things kicked into HIGH GEAR... our food showed up before 1/2 of our group was back from having a smoke, and our 4 plates were brought out by 3 servers! It was odd... I ordered a Burger and Fries... it was fine.. nothing to write home about. But, the place was clean, and was the same spot where the free morning snacks were set up for the hotel... so it was easy to find our way back in the early am, before our departure.
