This was without a doubt a great find. The service was very friendly and fantastic. I did not have an empty water glass the whole night that's how good the service was. It's an inn that has a great restaurant. The place it's very very cozy has about 13 tables in one room, and a few more tables in another room five tables out doors plus a full bar. Nice place to hold a party or group gathering. They offer daily specials. We started with their flash fried calamari which was pretty good. Their Bake Mussels Au Gratin was ridiculously delicious. Large Mussels baked in a creamy, garlicky sauce covered with Gruyere cheese. I used the bread to mop up all the extra sauce and gooey cheese. We also ordered their pork belly appetizer because it was one of their specials and it was excellent. For dinner we had their Dry Aged Ribeye steak which was so tender, juicy, melt in your mouth delicious, covered with thin fried shoe string onions. We also had their broiled Salmon Florentine and Blacked Cajun Mahi Mahi Shrimp was also really good. Hands down I would have to say that they offer a great menu. On Thursday they offer an additional menu for burgers and panini sandwich's. Their burgers are really hardy and delicious. There really is so much to choose from and the food for me is always spot on. This is a place that I will definitely go to again.
Fabulous place....not fancy.....clean and comfy. Breakfast is served for overnight guests of the hotel. It was fabulous. Blueberry pancakes, perfectly cooked bacon and breakfast potatoes or your choice of eggs. The hosts were lovely! Dinner is served Thursday- Saturday starting at 5pm We will be back
This places is phenomenal! The avaiance and the service is five star! Hospitality will make you feel at home, just like grandma's house. Carl is the owner and chef, he made sure he came out to greet us. His wife Janice, behind the bar was so friendly and can make a really good drink! The food is scrumptious! Last but not least.... Dawn, out waitress was so knowledgeable, hospitable and friendly. Made me feel right at home. Thank you so much for the delicious dinner and experience! We will be back as soon as we can. We will recommend your place to friends.
Everything old is new again. This restaurant used to be the Laurel Villa... then for several years it was the River Rock Inn. The River Rock was much better than the old Laurel Villa. The menu was upgraded and modernized. As I understand it the original owner never left... he was only leasing to The River Rock management... since they couldn't make a go of it he has taken it back and re-established the Laurel Villa. He's a smart guy. He kept the best of modern and re-established some of the old school. How many modern restaurants still offer you a soup or salad included with your meal. The Butternut Squash soup was excellent! The River Rock's spectacular Calamari w/Chipotle Mayo survived and thank goodness it did! My Pork Shank was perfectly prepared and the gravy delicious, my Roasted Potatoes on the side were an uninspired afterthought, the Sauerkraut was an excellent pairing with the pork. My family all enjoyed there meals. The Laurel Villa is definitely new and improved... but still a little rough around the edges. Our waitress was brand spanking new... not great thing at these prices. I won't hold that against them, I understand that help is hard to find in Milford. She meant well and will probably be a great waitress by this time next year. The martini was disappointing to say the least. You have to wonder if the people who own restaurants ever eat out to see what the completion is doing. The pitiful tiny olives were sad. Such a simple cheap thing that really says a lot about your restaurant. They have a nice wine list and an excellent beer list... although nothing on tap. It's nice to have the Laurel Villa back. Tucked on the edge of town right across from the Delaware and pretty little park you can't beat the location. This is the perfect restaurant to bring your parents to... but I fear it might be too pricey for the old school clientele it will appeal to. I wish them well... we'll definitely be back.
