The mashed potatoes were also entirely flavorless. Have they not heard of spices? I'm throwing this in the trash. The Korean fried broccoli was ok, except the sauce was saltier than the ocean. Like, just way too salty. Inedibly salty. But it tastes dry without sauce. So I ate two pieces of broccoli and now I don't know what to do with it. I'll have to make my own sauce or else this is going in the trash also. The cornbread was amazing. Not amazing enough to redeem the $40+ I spent on my food. But still good. I will never eat here again.
The Bolognese was definitely not prepared the the normal chef. I have purchased this dish multiple times and have never been disappointed until today. The wings were extremely dry and over cooked, which I have NEVER experienced here before. This was a very disappointing experience, especially when I was greatly looking forward to the food.
A fantastic surprise. Lovely atmosphere, not too loud, even though it was pretty busy on a Wednesday night. Food was spectacular. Wife said that her grilled octopus was among the most tender she 'd ever had, though my brussel sprout salad was less tender--it needed a bit more of the tasty dressing. It was still a good starter. My first choice, beef bourguinon, was sold out, so I went with the fried chicken. What a great choice! Tender, moist, with a bit of heat from either the breading or marinade, and meant to be dipped in a side of maple syrup. The chicken was boneless, FYI, easier to eat, and I 'm sure easier for the kitchen to cook. The dish included delectable collard greens, though the 'whipped potatoes ' on the plate felt like an afterthought. Desserts and drinks (with creative mocktails on the menu) were great as well, with the chocolate pots de creme a real find (but maybe too much whipped creme). All in all, a great experience for a commensurate price. We 'll be back!
Had brunch with my wife and was absolutely blown away with the service and food. Erica was our server and she was absolutely fantastic and recommended some excellent choices and made our experience a memorable one; will definitely be returning again to try the rest of this delicious menu!! Surprising Fine Dining Experience. We weren?t dressed well enough but this was such a great experience, food and staff. Great steak and pork chops. Delicious side dishes and very nice dessert. I?d highly recommend you try the Oak Reed for any occasion.
