So a group of about 20 of us show up to this bar to party for about 1 last hr!!! We show up at around 12:05 and the bartender starts screaming LAST CALL !!! Not sure if she and the bartender just wanted to leave early but we just wanted to enjoy with the bride and groom and were willing to spend good money in an hr!!! Not sure if they were racist either or just used to being rude, loud and with a very arrogant attitude... but they kicked us out cause the BOUNCER decided we couldn 't get a beer for the bride at 12:30!!!! So after insulting us and literally forcing us to leave we left. We came to visit this place for the ocasion and will never ever come back again!!! This was the worst place I have ever visit in my adult life!!!!!
Dive bars have a unique character of their own. Mad Murphy 's is no different and I love it here. A friend of ours said she loved the wings here so my fiancée and I decided to give them a try! Atmosphere/Appearance: Right off of South Main Street is this gem with its own parking lot out back and not 1, but 2 separate decks where you can hang outside or have a smoke. Inside you have the very divey feel, just without the pool table. Lol. There is a Touchtunes juke box so you can take over the music if you must. The bar rail is long and there are plenty of other tables to convene at with your compadres. Service: Kelly is pretty awesome. She pretty much took care of the entire restaurant all on her own which also involves walking from all the way around the bar to where our party of 4 was sitting in the corner. She made sure we had a full pitcher of water at all times, all the food we needed and that we were okay. Food: My fiancée LOVES the wings here. I think they 're cool, but happy wife, happy life. Lol. I was able to try their Hot, Honey Hot, Caribbean Honey, Jerk, Old Bay, Ranch and Garlic Parmesan flavors. They 're pretty standard and traditional. My favorite is the Hot and Honey Hot. The Hot is classic, spicy and flavorful. Honey Hot just adds a sweetness character to the already spicy wing. Old Bay was also one of my favorites. So yeah, I 'd totally come here to smash some wings whenever my love wants to. Value: Wednesdays are $0.50 wing day! So that 's when we come and load up! You can 't beat that, especially in Connecticut. Pretty awesome spot to come with a group of your friends, grab some wings, some drinks and to mellow out. We will certainly be making some returning trips.
So this has become one of my Wing Wednesday spots! You what happens when I fall in love, right? Yep, the $5 for 10 wings just turned into $6 for 10 wings. 60 cents a wing won't make me stop coming here, it just figures that once I get addicted they up the price one me. My favorite wings are the honey hot, but I've heard great things about the dry rubs too. But, I love buffalo wings, I want sauce and spice so if you ask me, the dry rubs are boring and just taste like dry fried chicken, not amazing juicy saucy wings the way they should be, unbreaded and amazing!! Kelly is awesome! I'm happy to see her when she's in on a Wednesday when I stop by! She takes great care of us and brings up pitchers of water so we aren't as likely to run out. I've had a ton of wings, and for the money, these are some good wings! You must order in increments of 10 to get the wing Wednesday deal, and I'm okay with that! I'll be back, plenty of times I'm sure. For those that know me, they know I love wine, wings and ice cream. I'm only highly recommending this place for wing. They often run out of wine and they don't have any great happy hour prices for the small selection they do have. And, well, ice cream? No clue. I stick to wings and vodka cocktails here. : I've also tried a tater tot or 10 when a friend ordered them, and they are amazing too! Just not something I'm order and eat on my own, but they were damn good if that's your thing.
Great place. Went with my friends on a Wednesday night to drink some beers and play pool, not crowded at all. It does seem a little small unfortunately, but still a very cool setup with the outdoor patio, bar, and upstairs area. The upstairs pool area is spacious and has a good tv for watching sports while you play. Draft beers are $5 which isn't bad in my book. The wings were delicious , the cheese fries were decent, would definitely go back for wings again. The bartender was fairly nice, and the owner came around upstairs and talked to us for a while, seemed like a nice guy. I do love that they had live local music entertainment even on a Wednesday night, made for a great atmosphere.
