First State Brewing Company

I cannot believe how incredible this place is. The scrapple sandwich, the beer... It made me reevaluate my entire existence because it was that good! Our bartender, Tom, was exceptional and guided us to the most amazing beers that truly amazed my tastebuds. I am actually thinking about selling all of my belongings and living in their parking lot.

After a long day trip of driving to and back from Lancaster, my buddy and I were debating on where to get some good food and beer. He recently went to First State Brewery and highly recommended the spicy chicken sandwich. Since I hadn't been to FirstState Brewery yet, we both decided to go here. It was quite busy on a late Saturday afternoon, so we decided to just sit at thebar. One of the servers/bartender immediately gave us menus and promptly took our orders. I ended up getting two beers, MindElevation and Tactical Exploitation. The tasting notes of Mind Elevation was supposed to have mango and pineapple, but in myopinion it was a little too hoppy. The hops muted out the fruit notes. Tactical Exploitation contained Peach and Tangerinenotes, which definitely came through while still maintaining a good level of hops. With the chicken sandwich wars raging on atalmost every restaurant and bar, I like to sample whenever I get a chance at a new established I haven't trie. My buddy told methat the Fightin' Blue Hen is massive and he definitely wasn't joking around. When a server brought it out, I was astounded atthe sheer size of it. I tried eating it with my hands, but the two chicken breasts kept sliding out. The potato bun literallysoaked up the spicy sauce and disintegrated. I ended up using my fork to eat the sandwich in two halves since it was such astruggle. The chicken was cooked perfectly and I loved the added pickle slices. The smaller version of the sandwich, Baby BlueHen is about $2 cheaper. In my opinion, paying an additional $2 which technically amounts to a whole additional sandwich isworth it when it comes to ordering the Fightin' Blue Hen! I opted for the fries and I was recommended the Sweet Sriracha Aiolidipping sauce. Loved the selection of food and drinks. Definitely will be coming back here very soon with some out of townfriends and family.

This restaurant is fantastic! They offer a variety of games to play and a wide selection of beers. We enjoyed the cheesesteak, chicken and waffles, and the Baby Blue Hen, all served with fries. The fries were particularly delicious, and all the food was excellent!

First State is a fantastic addition to Delaware's brewing scene. Their hazy IPAs and Double IPAs are top-notch, but I have yet to try a beer from them that I didn't enjoy. Unlike many other breweries, First State offers a large food menu with appetizers, salads, sandwiches, dinner entrees, kids meals, and desserts. They have plenty of parking, a spacious bar, great happy hour specials, and delicious tacos. The atmosphere is wonderful and it's conveniently located just off Route 1 for those heading to or from the beaches. I highly recommend checking them out - you won't be disappointed.

A hidden gem in Middletown. The atmosphere is cool! The food is amazing and the service is great as well. This was our first time here and won't be our last! They have an amazing beer selection!
