Blue Highway Pizza - Micanopy

We spent three weeks in micanopy and were very happy to find blue highway pizza. we loved that they have tempeh and vegan mozzarella as toppings, as well as many sweet as artichoke hearts, roasted vegetables, sun-dried tomatoes and much more. the staff is friendly and helpful. we also love the atmosphere of the restaurant (beautiful decoration and rock music.)

The hummus is delicious, but I was disappointed to learn that they use butter on the pita bread that comes with it. I gave it 3 stars because most people do not expect dairy to be included in a hummus dish.

This family-owned restaurant has always been a favorite of mine for their delicious thin crust pizza. Despite what a previous review may have said, they do offer vegan sauce and vegan "cheese" upon request. The tasty tossed salad we had as a starter was absolutely delicious!

After a day of hiking in Payne's Prairie, I was in search of a nearby dining option. This restaurant is the only choice for miles around, and I was pleasantly surprised to discover they offered vegan cheese, vegan sauce, and tempeh. I was impressed by how delicious the food was and how charming the atmosphere of the restaurant was! This is a fantastic recommendation for anyone visiting Payne's Prairie State Park or southern Gainesville. I was taken aback by the variety of options available in this small town in Florida, but this restaurant truly hit the spot.

There are no completely vegan options on the menu, but the staff are super willing to work with you to alter a meal to your liking. I feel like they get it, if you know what I mean. My favorite thing to order is the Tuscan Bean Piadine without the feta or parmesan. Once, I ordered a menu special as take out. I included a comment to leave off the cheese because I’m vegan. I received a friendly call a few minutes later because one of the other topping ingredients contained butter and honey. The extra time they took to clarify my order was very much appreciated. I give them five stars for service even if I can’t give them five stars for vegan food options.
