Did the Miami Spice lunch menu. Sat outside, nice covered area, not too much traffic, good neighborhood, nice decor and plants, overall generally positive. There was construction work and jack hammering across the street but there’s not much the restaurant about that. Server was very nice and perfectly attentive but not too much. She was the best part of the experience for sure. Main reason for my rating was the food unfortunately. The goat cheese croquettes were 4 very small deep-fried balls that were almost certainly purchased from Sysco food services or other mass production company. Underwhelming and small portion. Not even a small dressed salad. The lobster roll had lots of lobster, but the bread was super crispy and oily like it had been deep-fried and the lemon aioli was just a watery mayo dressing with no real flavor. Did not detect any truffle, just over-powering green onion. It wasn’t terrible, of course, but it just missed the mark and I didn’t finish it. It came with seasoned fries which just didn’t … match the vibe. They were also just regular frozen, seasoned fries that you could get at TGI Fridays on the corner. Finally, I had the chocolate ganache, and what I got was a piece of mass-produced chocolate cake with a chocolate-mousse-maybe-a-little-like-ganache filling. It was bland and one dimensional. Again, not terrible but something I could likely have gotten at any TGI Fridays or similar. I had two cappuccinos as well. They were fine. Not amazing but fine. Overall, the food experience felt like a chain restaurant. However, my total, with tax and tip, was $72 for one person which is distinctly more than a chain restaurant.
We dined here to celebrate our son's 21st birthday, Frankie our host and server took very good care of us. He was friendly, respectful and co-operative to assist us with our requests. We ordered burgers, salmon, gnnochi and ratatouille. Everything was well cooked , seasoned perfectly and fresh as it could be. We had a tremendously fun dining experience. The vanilla ice cream and warm bread pudding in the end, was tasty and just absolutely wonderful. A must visit restaurant in if you are visiting the SoBe area in Miami.
