The host was apologetic and sincere. The table service was just awkward. My guest finished their water while we were enjoying our appetizer and her response was, Oh are you one of those people? Eeeeek. My silverware was very dirty and when the appetizer plates were removed she wanted me to keep them. Not sure where she expected me to lay them because they had beautiful placemats on the table and I didn 't want to dirty it. When the entrees arrived my water needed refilling and the person refilling it asked if there was a hole in my glass. Really? Nope. Just a lot of ice. We had the Brussel sprouts as an a appetizer and they were a bit more firm than I 've had at other places, but tasty. I had the Frenchmen burger and it was one of the best burgers I 've ever had. It was seasoned perfectly. I enjoyed a glass of Meomi Pinot noir with it. The wine pour was small, but I appreciated that it was served the right temperature and in a proper glass. This place was beautiful, the food was great, and the wine list was excellent. I 'd love to try this place again! I 'd just hope for a more professional server next time.
Wasn't planning on such an outstanding meal, a definite favorite when we go back to NOLA
Oh, how the mighty have fallen! A busy Friday night at Andy 's and the host/manager told us 10 15 minute wait. Great! We grabbed drinks at the bar and decided to go outside since the waiting area is small and the bar was packed. I stopped in and told him we 'd be outside and he said I have a lot going on. You need to come check with me. I told him great! I 'll set a timer on my phone!! And I did. After 8.5 minutes he came out and said our table was ready and we owed him $10 for making him come outside. We laughed uncomfortably. We should have left. Based on my review last time I ordered my burger a temp down. I told the server I like it medium, but last time medium was well so I like a thin pink line. She said now, we don 't refire burgers if it 's not right then... and shrugged. I said if it 's under can 't they just throw it back on? and she said we 'll see maybe? Since last time it was over let 's temp down, right? Food came and my burger was completely bare. I asked for the mustard and pickles and she ran and got the mustard and said I had a pickle spear so I had to cut that and dress my own burger. That didn 't happen last time but okay. Cut up my pickle spear with a butterknife and made the burger all perfect, just how I like it and cut it in half.....and it 's rare. Like RARE. Cool. ****. A tiny edge of sear. I could feel the squish even when I was cutting through it so I was prepared but still stunned when I looked. That 's RARE. Not wanting to give up my perfectly prepared bun, I put the patty on the bread plate. Snagged the waitress, and she said oh my god we 'll fix this. We waited about 15 minutes. A guy tried to clear my plate. No manager came by to chat. A fully recooked burger arrived on a bread plate (they hadn 't just refired mine) and I 'll be damned if it wasn 't the exact same. Red. ****. Cool. Got the waitress again and asked her to please just take it off and I 'd go get dinner elsewhere (it 's about 9pm at this point). She was MORTIFIED. Got our bill and offered us a free dessert but we declined I was still needing dinner. No manager again to express any sort of condolences. I don 't know what was going on but had that been my first experience at Andy 's I 'd never had gone back.....we still might not. And that 's a shame because when they 're good they 're GREAT but consistency is important too.
It 's official. We 're early bird old. For my husband 's 51 birthday, we were joined by two dear friends for dinner at 5:45 just before the early bird prix fixe menu ended at 6 pm. For $29, you can get a salad, entree and bread pudding. I had the filet which was cooked to perfection served on a hot plate in grilled butter. My husband had the double pork chop (our table 's favorite-because we couldn 't keep our forks out of each other food). My friend had the redfish (divine, light dish with the green beans). I thought the Caesar salad could 've used a tad more dressing but everyone else enjoyed it. We started off with complimentary focaccia bread and butter. An appetizer of grilled shrimp (again, yummy). We considered the colossal crab but a nearby table had ordered it and it was a colossal bowl of ice with a tiny serving of crab so we passed. The bread pudding (more bread than pudding) was delicious but could 've used more sauce. The service was impeccable! We never had an empty glass or dirty dishes on the table. Every need was met. Our server, Cole, is extremely personable and didn 't hover over us but was attentive to our needs. My husband was so excited that he found a new favorite restaurant. We 'll definitely be back!
This was our second visit to Andy's (in over 3 years and it didn't disappoint....except for when you order Veal at a Steakhouse. (it wasn't great, but it wasn't bad... Service, both times was great.
