It's wonderful to have a location in Metairie where you can enjoy a fantastic culinary experience without the need to travel all the way to New Orleans!
Cypress Restaurant is conveniently located at the corner of Transcontinental and West Esplanade in Metairie. This charming eatery has been serving delicious meals for many years. I enjoyed an exceptional dinner here tonight. I started with the seasonal crab bisque, which was outstanding! For my main course, I chose the chef's special fish of the day, which was a drum served with lump crab meat, rice pilaf, and asparagus. It was a fantastic meal! Before dinner, I sipped on an Italian Pinot Grigio, priced at about $8 per glass. The total cost per person was around $35, which included a cup of soup, a salad, the duck, and a glass of wine. I highly recommend this restaurant!
The food was excellent, and the atmosphere was lovely. However, the service could be improved, as we didn't receive water or bread, and the café never arrived. I was unclear about who was responsible for our table. They made an effort, but it seems they need a manager to better coordinate the service on a busy Saturday night.
Had 6:30am reservation for woman and I for Valentine's Day. You sat pretty fast by woman without too much personality, you think she could be one of the owners. It took almost 20 minutes until a waiter came to our table. I wouldn't say they were mugged. Finally a waiter came and took our drinks order and appetizer order and said he would bring out hot bread. The waiter came with our drinks and another waiter we told would be our waiter for the night. We made our order with the second waiter and he also said that he would bring hot bread out. About 15 minutes we passed the second waiter to remind him of the bread he had forgotten when he finally got hot bread. About 10 minutes he came with salads that were all salads. My wife had to annoy her own vinegar and oil combination. I have creamy blue cheese that seemed a little watery. The woman had a lobster that had a crusty dough over the tail. It was different, but it tastes pretty good. I had scallops that were very good. After almost 90 minutes, the bus boy came by to pick up plates and ask if we wanted dessert we rejected and asked for the check. Our waiter never came back to ask if we were anything or how it was. After all, our waiter came with the bill. The bill was picked up by the same woman who sat on us. She didn't tell us a word, not even thank you for coming and I'm pretty sure she was the owner. This is the third time to eat there. The first time was a similar bad experience. The second time was better because of the service, but this third time left much to wish about the staff and said owner. I really don't think there will be a fourth time. That's why I gave a two-star rating. However, the appetizer and the two main dishes were quite good, but had great dishes for less elsewhere.
We enjoyed the atmosphere, food was very good, BUT that bag salad deficiency class. My husband and I like salad bags, it has a pronounced taste. This needs improvement. I had the soft bowl crab and miltion soup and scallop, Milton soup. Dessert bread pudding. waiters are the best!!!
