Pizzeria La Fogata - Mérida

Their single-size pizzas are perfect size for one person. I had one with mushrooms and black olives, my companion had pepperoni. Both were excellent. I was kind of taken aback to find that they had no wine, or even beer, hence the 4 rather than 5 stars.

We got pretty tired with Mexican food and wanted a change. This small pizzeria looked nice so we gave it a try. Wood fired oven was inviting and kind staff assured us we're in the right place. They have seating upstairs but we opted for a takeaway to eat it by the pool of our hotel. All 3 different pizzas we took were just great thin crust and rich ingredients. I must admit I didn't expect such pizza in Mexico. Very affordable prices.

When my wife and I were here last year, we both tried pasta dishes (see the review elsewhere here). This time we decided to try the pizza as it is, after all, a pizza joint. I tried the Fogata Special 1, single size, and my wife tried the Hawaiian, single size as well. Because we both got a little carried away with starters, garlic bread with grated parmesan for myself and the bruchetta for my wife, we didn't really have room for the reasonably sized singles. That's okay. Both pizzas were delicious and we both had half of one each to take home for lunch the next day. Just as good re-heated. While I would give a five I'm dropping this to a four as my Mezcal was served with the appropriate spices but with a lime wedge instead of the standard orange wedge you will be served with in other establishments. The lime does not really complement the spicy salt seasoning sand smokey taste of the Mezcal.

A must for lovers of thin-crust pizza! Besides being delicious, it is made at lightening speed and served by a super courteous staff! Super is the theme at Pizzeria La Fogata! It 's our second visit, so it 's 4 thumbs-up!
