They ran out of the inherited frits I really wanted to try, but I tried the sweet potato fries I usually don't like from other places, and they turned out to be amazing! They close on 3 Sundays, but it seems that all restaurants in the area do so it is not special for them. All in all, it's a great place to go. The food is something of the best I ever had; the server we had was very sweet, although he was incredibly busy; the atmosphere was great. You really can't go wrong here. I wish we had one near where I live, it would be my favorite restaurant. I would be sincerely willing to travel the two hours for dinner only! YUM!!! ... I really hope they had some of these beerbatter frits next time. Oh, make sure you ask for Cornbread!
My sister and I ate here last week. Our server, Melissa, was the perfect balance of friendly, informative, and attentive without being pesky. I ordered trout with sweet potato fries and mixed veggies. It was all perfect except for a few of the sweet potato fries that got into the juice of the veggies and got soggy. The portions were generous so that didn't matter. My sister had a salad and loved it. They were out of her favorite dressing so they brought 2 alternatives on the side. We enjoyed the setting. All the people working there seemed to work together well. We went in mid-afternoon which is a slow time for them. Our food came in a timely manner. I was surprised to read other reviews about the long wait times for their food. Maybe they don't manage large crowds well. I was very happy with our experience even before we left an item there and had to go back for it over an hour later. They kept it safely for us at the cash register and were so nice about it.
Had the daily special, meatloaf with three sides, drink and desert included. Just eight and some change total. Great wait staff, all food was wonderful. Can't wait to go there again. Atmosphere is great building is from 1850's very rustic. Very relaxing.
At the very tip-top of the mountain, you will find this little gem of a restaurant and I cannot wait to return. After a long day's work and an even longer drive, I cannot express how nice it was to pull into this place. I had the fried catfish, corn on the cob, fries, corn fritters, key lime and french silk pie and everything was divine. The gentleman and young lady that served my brother and I were beyond wonderful and our food arrived incredibly fast so the kitchen deserves a mention as well. Thank you and we will be back!
My brother and I dined here, and it was a wonderful southern experience. The staff was welcoming, and the food was absolutely delicious. I'll definitely return next time I'm in the area. I highly recommend you visit and try the catfish!
