After reading Sarah C's review, I couldn't help but feel that she was completely unaware of the situation. I feel the need to set the record straight. On that Friday night, the chef unexpectedly fell ill (suffering a stroke, to be exact). While Sarah was complaining about trivial matters, the staff and the chef's partner of over 20 years were awaiting the arrival of the ambulance. I want to thank Sarah for her disrespectful review, but she is not welcome back at our restaurant.
A gem, a true country pub. Walk in, smile and say Hello and you will immediately know you are welcome. Nothing pretentious or arty farty Just genuine, good value, so rare these days. Excellent ales at sensible prices. This is a pub for country pub connoisseurs.
My group of six went out for a night and weren't in a hurry. The starters were good, including tasty soup, garlic mushrooms, and prawn salad. We understand that the kitchen is small at the pub, but we were quite hungry by the time the starters arrived after waiting over an hour. The main courses came after another wait. Five of us enjoyed our meals, but unfortunately, the salmon was overcooked and drowned in a sauce that one person did not like. It seemed like a poor choice. The desserts were good, and some of us opted for coffee or tea. The overall cost of the meal was very reasonable.
Went here for a 82nd Birthday and there was 10 of us and we had pre-booked in for 12:30 on a Sunday (they open at 12). Sadly we had to wait until near 2pm for the food to arrive even though we had only ordered one course. There was 3 other tables and their wait was equally as long despite only 3 or 4 people at their tables. However when the food did arrive it was of high quality and full of taste. If they could reduce the waiting time to normal this place would be great
