Dobbies Shepton Mallet - Mendip

We enjoy going to the garden centre and take advantage of our Dobbies Loyalty Card, which offers us a free coffee at the restaurant. The only downside is the long line to get a coffee, so often we end up not bothering to get one. We're not sure if we'll renew our membership next year.

Called in for breakfast. One girl on the till also doing coffees. Que of 20 people waiting, atmosphere between staff you could cut with a knife single girl struggling recieved no help at all whilst other staff banged about with glum looking faces. Come on Dobbies this is rubbish.

Recently visited for lunch. What a awful experience. Hardly anything left for lunch (it was lunchtime) staff couldn't be bothered, moaning etc. Where they served our coffee, there was spilt milk on the counter but just pushed our cups through it. I ordered an egg sandwich, my husband a coronation chicken. They used the knife on my husbands sandwich to cut mine. Good job I'm not vegetarian! The drinking glasess and cutlery were filthy. Never again, disgusting hygiene standards.

Visited Dobbie’s garden centre with my mum to buy a plant, and was met with the worst service we have ever experienced. We visited on the 14th of August 2023 at around 5:45pm. We went in and quickly grabbed a plant as we knew they were shutting at 6. As soon as we entered the building, the retail assistant informed us that they were closing in a fairly aggressive manor, which we were fully aware of and assured her we would be in and out quickly. She then misled us for the first time when she told us that the outside part of the garden centre was likely shut. We then asked her where the gift bags were after selecting a plant from the area that was still open, she informed us that they didn’t sell gift bags. Then my mum spotted them a few metres away. We were misled a second time, and then when we went to pay at around 5:55, she served us at the tills very passive aggressively. She had blonde hair, medium build and glasses on the top of her head. She made our shopping experience very uncomfortable and we will not be returning. Having worked in retail for an extended period of time, I was disgusted by this service and cannot understand how such a rude and disrespectful individual can be allowed to represent this company which otherwise has been a joy to shop in.

Back again after a long time Well certainly not as I remembered it was see my previous review My wife's soup was very good, carrot coriander I was looking forward to prawns again On display were only 3 baguettes which looked very tired So requested a prawn sandwich with wholemeal bread no side salad etc When paying mentioned not having salad with it but was still charged full amount Well, the prawns were very cold little or no Marie sauce Extremely disappointed very dry to eat Staff did not seem as happy as previous visits tables were left a long time before being cleared Will certainly not return here in a hurry
