Allegro - Melbourne

This restaurant sure knows how to do a high tea! I went and did the High Seas high tea on the weekend and the food was absolutely delightful. The seafood was fresh and well presented. Highlight items off the menu were the spanner crab croquettes, the lobster tacos (so much lobster, just wished the corn tortilla was nicer and didn’t taste like cardboard) and the four pillars gin frozen marmalade custard. I unfortunately had to take a star off of the dining experience as I didn’t feel that the customer service delivered was up to my expectations. Staff were not the most attentive and a pet peeve of mine is when staff do not communicate credit card surcharges when paying.

Merry Xmas eve at Allegro couldn’t have chosen a better place to spend with my fiancé for dinner. Don’t let the rating fool you but from our experience last night it was worth a 5 star rating. The waiter we had was very professional and polite, the food was very delicious and was cooked well. The best was that duck breast cooked to perfection one of the best duck dishes I had and will be back for this dish alone.

My boyfriend i went for high cheese and oh boy was it cheesy! it was worth every penny in my opinion although some cheeses were a little too strong for me (my boyfriend loved the strong cheese dishes though). definetely worth a visit!

You will find Allegro Restaurant within Westin Hotel Melbourne. For entree I would recommend the Char-grill Skull Island prawns or the Crudo hiramasa kingfish both $28. Our group tried 4 of the mains on offer (all around $38), the lamb, pork, fish and duck. We enjoyed them all. The mushroom and tarragon pot pie and pumpkin were great side dishes and accompaniments to the meal.<br/ <br/ There are currently Charlie and the Chocolate Factory inspired desserts and cocktails available. Would suggest you try these while they are available.

Came here specifically for High Cheese High Tea. The service is exceptional, the waitress was friendly attentive and was an expert help when we asked her if she could take a photo of our group at the table! Each item was explained including the order to eat our way through the stand. Hopefully it’ll be back next year!
