The Duke Of Wellington - Matlock

This is not a Greene King pub as advertised on the board at the front of the hotel/website. The room we had been allocated was dark, had a leaking toilet, a blind that didn't close and no curtains. This wasn't the main problem though: we weren't told until after we'd checked in that the pub facilities weren't available because of a large private party, meaning we had to find alternative arrangements at the very last minute. The management were not helpful. Only giving it one star as I can't give it no stars!

Unfortunately, i was only able to stay the one night at this lovely country pub and i was extremely impressed throughout and will certainly be staying again over the next few months I was particularly impressed with the excellent food and service from the owner, Mike and his attentive staff throughout my evening meal, even reserving me a table for me without prompting. Great place

Dog friendly rooms, nice pub grub and draught Guinness...perfect.

We visited the Duke of wellington this afternoon.. food was amazing. So much to choose from, the staff are very welcoming and helpful and they are also very polite. Definitely recommend for anyone who hasn’t tried it. Nothing was too much to ask for!

The ham, egg, and chips were delicious. However, my mum's breaded mushroom starter was overcooked. The main reason we chose this restaurant was for the sundae, which I had enjoyed before. Unfortunately, we were told at 7:40 pm that the kitchen was closed and the chef had left for the day. Despite still being in the middle of our meal, we had not been informed earlier. The bartender attempted to make the sundae, but it did not turn out well and we were still charged for it. This disappointing experience has made us decide not to return to this restaurant and we cannot recommend it to others.
