Papi's - Martinez

Their service here today was very poor and my friend ordered the Italian sandwich and she said it was way too salty and she asked for a sausage replacement for the inside of the sandwich which they charged her for the sausage but after she complained they took it off I had the hangover hash which seemed to be a mess of a bunch of hot and cold ingredients with egg and bacon and braised beef. I had an upset tummy after I ate there so I probably won't be back which is a shame because it is a nice restaurant but between our server who was painting his nails at the counter and then just totally forgetting about us and had to wait almost 30 minutes for our bill I just don't think it's worth the money.

Great service!!! They took us in 15 min. before closing and they were very nice. Offer us desert way after closing time. Super impressed with the food and service.

I want to give this place 5 stars. I really do. It's so cute! The service is so friendly! The food is mostly amazing! The weird thing is, the press their meat into shapes (see pic). Makes you think it's a can of tuna. And it ruins the texture. Take the chicken in this pic, it's not grilled, it seems like it was boiled, formed into a can of tuna shape, and covered in a sauce to make it brown. And the wine pours are teensy. Otherwise, amazing date spot, super cute interior and the short ribs, food presentation and service are spot on! Update: the chicken also tastes terrible. Papis, I love you, I know you can do better!

My fiancé and I came here for the first time on Sunday night, We were walking around Martinez, and looking at some menus. We liked what we saw on the menu so we gave it a shot, We ordered some wine and started with the Bruttata, Very impressive! Beautiful look and the perfect medley of flavors to kick off the night. (Toast cheese olives peppers and tomatoes) My fiancé decided on getting the meatballs and linguini. Cannot find a flaw in this dish. Well balanced flavors, this plate was really elevated. So many levels of flavor in a dish that would normally be expected to be simple. We were blown away, I ordered and enjoyed the best short rib I've ever had in my life. They came with potatoes, a dark but light sauce and delicious yams. Last we ordered desert only because everything went so well! We were excited to see what would come next and we didn't want the night to end. It did not disappoint! I'm Italian, and have always complained about the lack of effort that is put into Italian food restaurants in the Bay Area... I could not believe how detailed these plates are. The flavors really stack so well, we left In a really good mood! We will be back to try some more Menu items, Thank you for a night to remember !

Ok!!!!! So so finally we fine a real Italian restaurant that serves real incredibly delicious meals that represent the Italian culture, it's authenticity of the Italian culture is exactly what I wanted, the service is absolutely amazing the staff is warm loving welcoming just an A+ group they will service you with kindness, a smile and just you will feel at home, this is a must stop in!!! must make reservations sometimes it takes a little bit longer to get in if you don't make a reservations, you might have to wait a little bit they have outdoor seating and just make a stop at Martinez because Papi is the number one restaurant in all East Bay Area for Italian food, we felt as if we were back in Italy!!!! authentic food authentic service, cheers to the chef and owner of this establishment, truly a work of art when it comes to food to display, it's a beautiful elegant restaurant in a simple modern style, we love it!!!! The meatballs were exceptional exactly like our Zia Augusta makes in Italy!!!!!! Exceptional outstanding wine selection, we could see the kitchen from were we were sitting and it was well organized clean and beautiful done.
