Poppy's Thai Restaurant - Maroondah

The food was good and very tasty by the service was terrible. Whenever we needed drinks or to order I had to got the the front and order there. We had a booking and when we arrived the table had no wine glasses. We just grabbed glasses off the other tables. The main concern was there take away orders, they were rolling out the door. 45 minutes to 1 hour for our main, never came over and asked if we needed anything not even for drinks we had to get up and order them. Get take away don't eat in.

We often get Poppy's take away and without fail, every time we are pleased.It is delicious authentic Thai food available locally. Chicken Thai green curry and the beef massaman curry and one of our favourites. The vegetable spring rolls and the satay skewers are great entrees! We'll be customers of Poppy's for life!

We were cold and hungry when we arrived but the Restaurant was warm and the wait staff welcoming. We ordered one of the specials which was a Prawn Spicey Red Curry that was demolished and found to be hot and spicy as promised. I ordered a vegetarian Tom Yum Soup which unfortunately came made with the addition of fish sauce which I can detect easily as I dislike it intensely. I returned my soup and the waitress came back telling me the soup did not contain fish sauce according to the chef! Hmmmmmm! Not true! It was taken away. This was disappointing. Also eaten by a fellow diner was a Pad Thai without chilli at her request and this too disappointed. We won't go back.

Decided to try Croydon Poppy's instead of the very good but extremely noisey Thai Tables in Bayswater.The service at Poppy's was good and food arrived quickly which was just as well as our taste buds had been aroused by the aromas coming from adjacent tables. Will return.

The line was horribly long and moving very slow because of being understaffed.
