Like most of the tourist-centric restaurants in Mahabalipuram, this place has Indian, Chinese and western options. The Indian food is good (I had calamri curry, paratha and chapati). The view over Othavadai St is nice at night, when all the lights are on, and the fans keep you cool. The staff includes an attentive waiter from Nepal, whose name escapes me. Sandpiper beer appears when requested.

Alberto and Gladys are the friendly owners of this place in Mahabalipuram. He told us that the name comes because of his first son's name and then Coconut because he was born in Kerala. Albert is also an expert masseur and yoga instructor!!! Do not hesitate in asking for info!They run a cosy and really good restaurant in this funny village of Tamil Nadul. The food is delicious their 'Chicken 65' is a must, the best we tried in India. Also chicken curry and grilled fish, we returned to this friendly place because of both food and their kind owners which , made this place our favourite while in Mahabalipuram. Chill Kingfisher beer, tasty food , music, all for not more than 200 RP per person. A complete bargain!!!Undoubtedly one of the best restaurants with very nice ambiance and roof top dining room.I kindly recomend a visit to Santiago Coconut cafe, it is brand new and there are not many people since I would say that the other restaurants in town were totally packed with tourists.

Located at the end of the road right by the ocean, you'll have a wonderful view especially if you go to the top balcony to dine. At night the place is lit up with a multitude of shell lights and the ambience is very tropical. The fish was superb. Not only fresh but nicely prepared. Service very good but the tables could have been a bit cleaner. But that's India for you. We did enjoy our meal there.

No the cleanist looking or classy but isit in the plastic chairs and chill with a drink overlooking the beach . The food was great seafood platter but with grilled calamari instead of fried wonderfully fresh with beatiful veg fried rice . Good value too ..
