We also tried the macaroni and cheese, elote, and mustard potato salad. The mac and cheese and potato salad were decent, just what you would expect at a barbecue. The potato salad had a touch of sweetness but was neither dry nor overly bland—it was nicely balanced. The elote was something new for me, and the menu described it as being "from the bay," but it reminded me more of corn. It had a creamy southwestern flavor, with hearty cheese and corn mixed in, garnished with cilantro. I found it delightful, and my husband enjoyed it as well. As for the meats, the ribs were decent, nicely seasoned with good flavor and texture. The sausage was tasty too, although it lacked the smoky flavor typically associated with BBQ. We enjoyed the sausage dipped in their BBQ sauce, which was a nice spicy and slightly vinegary complement to the pork. The brisket was quite good, featuring a nice bark and smoke ring—it was tender and juicy, but not as flavorful as I had hoped. The piece I had was on the lean side, while the fattier end was delicious. The clear highlight of our meal was the turkey; it was moist, flavorful, and smoky—just as we hoped it would be. I wouldn’t skip the turkey if I return! We also sampled the pork belly, which was rich and incredibly tasty; I wished I had ordered it for my meal. The woman at the counter was very friendly and attentive without being intrusive. I would definitely come back here; don’t let the small size or location fool you, the food was truly satisfying. A final note from my husband: he missed the classic dill pickles typically served with barbecue. The pickles we received were the sweet bread and butter type, while I personally enjoyed the slightly sweet pickled onion that accompanied the meal.
Reveille BBQ is owned and operated by Veteran. A thousand stars and thank you! Very cool decor and super friendly and fun staff. The German sausage is little embarrassing, well made and my German men liked it. It's good with her sweet/sour mustard. I had the slim bride and it was perfect. It was well seasoned and damp. The red grill sauce was also perfect. Not hard on vinegar and heat. The ribs were well seasoned and delicious. The meats were to my taste, as I prefer dry rubbed over wet. Don't worry, they have a lot of sauce. The potato salad was a little sharp as the Tex Elote. Twice baked potatoes, Mac cheese, green beans and the house relish were delicious. Remember, it's a byob. They sell filled water and preserved soft drinks.
This restaurant is definitely a hidden gem in the larger Houston area and worth the trip! The brisket was generously portioned and moist. The pork belly had a great pepper rub, but it could have benefited from an extra hour in the smoker. The ribs were tender and competitive, though they could use a bit more smoke and bark. The taco sausage was amazing! The elote was flavorful, especially with a squeeze of lime. The homemade pickles were perfect, and all three sauces were delicious. The service was incredibly friendly as well.
Wow! On our first visit to this place, we were thoroughly impressed and will definitely come back! We ordered to-go meals, and as someone who is quite picky about brisket, I have to say this brisket was exceptional—it practically melted in my mouth! The turkey was incredibly moist and flavorful as well. My favorite dish was the brisket with pickles; the homemade pickles were absolutely divine! I would definitely buy a jar if they offered it for sale. Overall, I would rate this a perfect 10/10. The sides were also fantastic! But most importantly, thank you for your excellent service!
The brisket is moist, the sausage has surprise cheese cooked in, the potato salad has the right amount of vinegar bite, the homemade pickles are perfectly pickled and the service is friendly. The only non-beer beverages are Coke and water, and we didn't try the Lone Pint beer, brewed on premises, but people seem to like it! There's a tree-shaded picnic table area with string lights and good rock music playing
