The Scotsman offers an exceptional selection of Scotch whiskies that you won't find anywhere else. If you have Scottish heritage like I do, this is the perfect place to embrace it. Just a heads up, the Scotsman is a high-end bistro located in an upscale neighborhood, so keep that in mind. Once you get to know the locals, it will quickly become your favorite social spot! Overall, it’s definitely a 5-star destination!
As for the food, we ordered several popular items: Scotch Eggs, Scottish Meat Pie, Gran's Steak Pie, Chocolate Soufflé, along with a Guinness and a Moscow Mule. After tax and tip, our bill came to around $80, though I might not remember the exact amount. The Scotch Eggs were a bit lackluster, in my opinion—aside from the mustard, they seemed overcooked and a bit dry (2.5 stars). I wouldn't recommend them, as they didn't stand out. The pies, however, were quite good (4 stars), featuring very fresh bread on top and served steaming from the oven. My steak pie felt like a hearty beef stew. The soufflé was delightful—steaming, flavorful, and perfectly prepared (4.5 stars). And, as I mentioned, the customer service was exceptional (5 stars). In summary, definitely give this place a try!
Making group reservations was a breeze, thanks to the online process and the helpful email communication with Marvella. Splitting the bill was straightforward and accurate. Thank you, Scotsman, for yet another enjoyable dining experience!
I visited the restaurant specifically for the steak pie, but unfortunately, it was sold out. Instead, I ordered chicken enchiladas with rice and sour cream for $8, along with a side of Heinz beans for $3. The portion size was generous and very satisfying. The flavor was mild and decent, but nothing to really rave about; I didn't pick up on much seasoning. The beans were sweet but just average. My husband ordered the BBQ ribs, which came with Heinz beans as well. He received three ribs packed with meat, but they didn't quite resemble traditional BBQ ribs; they tasted more like braised ribs. The meat was tender and fell right off the bone, and the sauce used was Baby Ray's BBQ sauce. The atmosphere had some nice background music. Overall, the service was satisfactory. I might return to try the steak pie after all.
Absolutely delicious! My husband and I decided to try this place because we're planning a trip to Scotland this summer, and it did not disappoint! We visited on a Wednesday at 7 PM, and there were still 4 or 5 tables filled with happy diners. I had heard that the bacon-wrapped dates were phenomenal, and they truly lived up to the hype; they are incredibly addictive little bites. My husband ordered a Scotch egg (make sure to order it early as it takes about 25 minutes), and it was utterly delightful. Our fantastic server, Victoria, brought out his meat pie, which was not only juicy and packed with savory meat chunks, but it was also topped with a perfectly browned square of puff pastry. Dipping that pastry into the meat pie filling was simply heavenly. This place is definitely a hidden gem worth visiting!
