フィードバックを提供するI hope Nick sees this and his staff. First and foremost THANK YOU for sharing your talent, passion and stellar food. It is rare to see someone live their passion in the moment and **** Nick and his team were on fire. Some of the most important events in my life were celebrated at Nick's Next Door. Nick greeting every guest and the service and atmosphere but the restaurant at a level put's it in a class of its own. My heart goes out to the whole restaurant. I am excited to see what Nick and his team build's next and will gladly travel anywhere to support the new venture should that occur. Best of luck to everyone who was part of Nick's vision. TBH really made me sad to hear this and think of other good businesses that have been crushed by COVID however, it's always darkest before the dawn my friends. We will get by, we will survive. GODSPEED to you and your crew Nick. Solidarity from Oakland.
The food was amazing and the service was excellent. I suggest making a reservation before coming in. This was my first time here and the food definitely met my expectation and at a very reasonable price. I got the Pan Roasted Rib Eye Steak and it was scrumptious. It came in a good portion and the fries were very good. I also liked the steak tartare. Overall, we had a great time during our visit.
Holy schmokes! Dare I say that this may be THE best restaurant in the South Bay? We could not stop raving about Nick 's Next Door even as we drove home from the dinner. I just realized I 'd never posted this review (it was in draft) until I went again. Service is amazing! We sat on the patio both times and Brian was our server. The only downside is that we were seated next to a group of super rowdy ladies that we couldn 't hear each other at all. If you 're looking for a quiet dinner, not sure this is the place! We went to celebrate my fiancé 's dad 's birthday the first time and they even gave us a free dessert. Definitely worth every cent. We 'll be back!!!!
Although I came to this restaurant a while ago, the dining experience still stands out to me since it had some outstanding dishes that I really enjoyed. I came here in the middle of the day, but reservations were pretty difficult to get so I would recommend booking a decent amount in advance. The interior design of the restaurant is pretty fancy, although that's to be expected from a lot of restaurants around the Los Gatos area. The waiters were friendly and were responsive whenever we needed something. The portion sizes of the dishes are decently sized, and in retrospect we may have ordered a bit much for two people. One of the main dishes that stood out to me was their bone marrow butter, which is served in a large bone along with crispy pieces of bread. This was my first time trying bone marrow as butter, and I have to say that it was delicious! Although it was a bit salty it was very creamy and had a unique flavor. We also got the crab martini and the lobster rolls, which both tasted fresh and definitely were presented well. The lamb chops that we got were super juicy and tender, a dish that I would 100% recommend to anyone who comes to the restaurant! They also serve complimentary bread with olive oil when you arrive in case you're starving when you get there. Nick's Next Door overall has some cool dishes, and although it's a bit on the pricey side it's a restaurant that I would love to come to again! It's definitely worth checking out if you're around the Los Gatos area!
Fantastic Restaurant! We have wanted to eat here for a while and every time we thought of it, when we called for reservations, there was nothing available for weeks. This time, we made a reservation for a Saturday evening, but made the reservation over a month before we wanted to dine there. Yes, you need to plan ahead and reserve that early! It 's worth the wait. We arrived on time for our 6pm reservation and were seated immediately at our inside table. There is seating inside and outside in a large tent on the patio. My son and I each had the Golden Age cocktail $14 , which had a very good taste. It is made from Japanese Whiskey, Lillet Blanc, Apple, Chamomile, Lemon, Drambuie, and Soda. It was garnished with a sprig of purple statice flowers for decoration. My wife initially wanted a piña colada, but the bartender did not have either the ingredients or a blender. So, he came over to our table and discussed with my wife to see what kind of custom cocktail that he could make for her. She told him what she liked and did not like she does not like drinks with a strong alcohol taste, but likes sweeter liqueurs . The bartender, Jason, who is a master cocktail maker, took up the challenge to create a drink just for her; he said that there would be no charge if she did not enjoy it. He came back with a sweet drink make with Kettle One Vodka, Elderflower liqueur, muddled mint, honey, and some other ingredients. It was served in a special windmill china container. It was the perfect taste for my wife and she enjoyed it immensely. Our congratulations to Jason who created the perfect custom cocktail for her! For our first course, I had the Mushroom Soup with white truffle oil $7 . The serving was small, but it was extraordinary! I highly recommend it. My wife and son had salads Mixed Greens $8 and Caesar Salad $8 , which were good but not as good as my soup! . We also enjoyed an order of Brussels Sprouts $7 , which were delicious, with seared outsides and tender insides, and flavorful. For our main course, my wife had the Nick 's on Main Salmon $28, with Lemon Risotto, Sautéed Asparagus and Fava Beans, Dungeness Crab Beurre Blanc , which was very flavorful and tender. My son and I each had the Duck Confit $25, with Herb Polenta Cake, Sautéed French Beans and Crispy Pancetta, Caramelized Onions, Port Wine Cherries which was delicious, tender, moist, and a taste sensation when you had a bit of all the ingredients in every bite. For dessert, we had the Bread Pudding $8 , which was accompanied with a very good vanilla ice cream scoop and a delicious sauce. Very good! Interestingly, other than my son having salad where I had soup, he seemed to order everything that I did. Nice that he was emulating his father! ... : The service initially was perfect and attentive. Things happened without having to ask. Later on, I had to ask for more water, where earlier, the water glasses were refilled before we noticed that they needed refilling. The service overall was very good. The pacing was perfect. Our meal took an hour and a half from being seated to departing, which was just the perfect pace. It is so refreshing to find a quiet restaurant where you can have a conversation with everyone at the table without fighting ambient noise. There are no televisions, which is great; after all, why distract people with television when there is great conversation to be had at the table. I 'm so glad to find a restaurant that takes care to put noise absorbing decor including noise absorbing panels on the ceiling and doesn 't have television! This restaurant is located in downtown Los Gatos off of Main Street which is not the main street on a side street College Avenue . There is a small parking lot behind at the end of the block. I highly recommend this restaurant.
