Mel's Fish Shack - Los Angeles

From a viewpoint (from the city). Nothing had spiced. Although it smells good, it wasn't the best or the worst... only fried fish. I had fried cats and shrimps... they put the cats on the fries they both made soggy. I wouldn't come back if I were in the area.

The fish is delicious! It tastes fresh and they get the food out quickly. This is not a sit down place and parking can be difficult at the wrong times but if you order ahead you can just pick up.

I love the art on the outside of the building! The most important part is the fish. Personally I get the Mrs. the fishes since I?m veggie tarian, but the food always smells delicious. She tells me that the jumbo shrimp is amazing, and I casually believe her. I eat her fries and I become addicted to the seasonings. All in all it?s a cultural spot that is worth it.

My friend and I had heard great things about Mel?s but somehow had never tried it, so we gave it a shot tonight and were not disappointed. The staff is unbelievably friendly and helpful and the food was amazing. We ordered there and it took a minute to prepare, but it was well worth the wait. The prices are great for the size of the meals and everything we had was delicious and tasted fresh. I?d highly recommend the fried filet of sole and peach cobbler. Do yourself a favor and stop by and grab a great dinner for you and your friends/family.

I don't know what's up with the last review. But they are definitely opened! Anywho this was my first visit here, found them on google then I was able to place a pickup order through chownow and 20 minutes later I walked in and it was ready the gentlemen that assisted me at the pickup window was nice. I ordered the shrimp and cajun catfish with potato salad and fries with a peach cobbler for dessert. Wow everything was delicious! My fries were a tad bit chilly but other then that I was satisfied with how they cook and fried my fish and shrimp. The peach cobbler was a little small I wish they offered a small and large size but man it was like one of the best peach cobblers I've ever had. I will be returning !
