My husband and I stumbled across it while walking around and I knew immediately when I saw it that it was going to be amazing. The aesthetic and ambiance is perfect. It’s clean and simple and grounding. It felt comfortable and luxurious at the same time. All of the food was of the highest quality. The price was such a bargain for what you get!!! I love eating great food but never liked how other restaurants can be overpriced and pretentious. All the waiters and waitresses had perfect customer service. The food was a perfect balance of Japanese, Taiwanese, and California tastes in one menu. I had the winter tasting menu and every dish was superb. All of the seafood, meats, and vegetables were amazing quality. Each dish was unique and tasted subtle, interesting, and original. I come from a Taiwanese background, love japanese food, and grew up in California and this high class fusion food really hit the spot for me. My favorite dishes were the corn potash and pineapple bao but they were all fantastic and I can’t wait to go back. My husband said that this is his favorite restaurant of all time!
Not only was the food presented beautifully, every dish was full of flavor and absolutely DELICIOUS. Can't wait to come back and try new dishes from Chef Jon Yao!
8 courses of tasting, aside from the 2nd beets tuna (over powering beets and not enough of tuna to balance flavor) everything else were fantastic! I love some more of butter milk rose ice
The 6 dishes of the tasting menu were perfectly balanced to compliment each other, each one as good to look at as it was to eat. The minimalist decor suited the chilled summer food but the staff were warm and helpful. A pretty perfect dining experience that we look forward to repeating again soon!
I had a great experience dining at Kato. Every dish is creatively prepared and absolutely delicious. Each course is plated in a way that fits the character of the dish and makes for a great experience. I looked forward to each course not just for how it tasted but to see how it would be presented. Really making art from food. Wait staff is efficient courteous and professional. The dining area is clean and minimalist and I loved how consistent the decor was from the tables, to the dishes and flatware. The restaurant is conveniently located in The Row so parking is easy and they do validate. Reservations are mandatory and you really need to be on it when they release to get it booked but it's absolutely wort the wait.
