I would highly recommend the Chicken Paprikash as well.... it is a generous serving of quarter Chicken, the pinched pasta is a nice change from traditional potatoes but it is the sauce that makes this dish so incredible.... perfectly spiced in traditional Hungarian style.....you can definitely taste the difference local, fresh vegetables and meats make in every dish! The restaurant is not fancy but very quaint, clean and the service is fantastic. Located beside Miller's Berry Farm just west of Lambeth....it is well worth the short drive! I can't wait to go back to try something new!
On the northern fringe of London, just west of Lambeth, lies the Hungarian restaurant, Aranka. The wife and I stopped in for supper and were not disappointed. The Hungarian Goulash is to die for and the service was excellent. We will definitely be going back.
On our first visit, I vowed to come back, skip the delicious appetizers and try some dessert. Mission accomplished! This family owned restaurant is a short, quiet drive out of London beside Miller's Berry Farm. We noticed a few subtle changes this time. Instead of the cumin infused mini biscuits, they offered a chewy European bread basket.Still a good start! We love the Wooden platter for 2. It is a huge quantity of well prepared food for $34.(chicken, ribs, sausage and pork schnitzel plus fresh veggies, sauerkraut and "pinched pasta") Aniko is a very pleasant and obliging server. When we requested a substitution for the fries and rice because we find the spatzle more ethnic, they gave us a healthy portion and also added some sauerkraut. This platter contains so much food, we were unable to eat it all! Great the next day!! And we did leave room for dessert! I liked the Hungarian crepes (palacsinta). They come with a variety of fillings and my custard and chocolate was creamy and delicious. The crepe itself was a bit crisp around the edges but otherwise light and tender. The whole consistent dining experience at Aranka is becoming one of our favourites and they seem to genuinely appreciate your business. We will be back!
Went with friends for our Friday night outing, the restaurant is a it in the country west of Lambeth. Started with The Goulash soup. J and I had the platter for 2 . A lot of food ribs , Schnitzel chicken and a heaping helping of fries ,vegetables and salad. Friends had the Schnitzel and cabbage rolls. All items were hot and delicious. All the pricing was good EXCEPT I felt the wine was pricy. A it out of town but worth the drive.
We were driving awhile and I really just needed a cup of tea. Stopped here and decided to have dessert as well. The service was fantastic. Hubby disappointed they were out of studel. I had a dessert crepe, so "delish" but I would have liked a dollop of whipped cream. So friendly- they made you feel welcome.
