Got burnt, dried out chicken, one string of onion and sour cream(? . Also got bags of oily fries that we didn’t order. All trashed, waste of money. Steve’s was a solid spot for Lombard residents with plenty of repeat customers. This place will close before summer.
Under new management/owners I believe. Nothing like the old Steve's. Fries were extremely dark, almost black and wasn't from over cooking it was from old dark oil. Don't think they are filtering or changing the oil. Haven't worked in food industry since high school many yrs ago but we would filter oil every night and replace with new oil frequently. Gyro meat was crispy/over cooked. I truly hope they learn and can turn things around.
A very sad day in Lombard, I have been going to Steve's for most my life and now will never be returning. New ownership, slow service and food was terrible. We ordered 6 hot dogs with fries, the worker did not put the fries in with the hot dog which was strange, they were separated in a separate paper bag. The hot dogs were not Vienna and not even all beef. They were the cheapest hot dogs you can buy, not even edible. They will be out of business within next month. Ownership should be ashamed at the level of service and food they are now serving.
Something is wrong here this was our favorite place for gyros and fast food for over 20 years. Over the past 2 weeks here in late 2022 there has been a major change. There are all new workers so it could be new ownership. They are not trained and service is slow now when is used to be very fast. Lots of folks waiting for orders and the orders are wrong and customers are coming back in missing things. The fries are all over cooked now. Just asked for refund after the cashier rang up my order wrong and I was overcharged. Drink machine still broken. They will be out of business in 6 months if they don't figure this out. Sad to see.
Steve’s Gyros is under new mgmt. when I went there I knew something was wrong because i been going to this place for years and never had a bad experience but when we got home to eat our food it was horrible the gyro was over cooked pita was brunt and hard the Philly was cold and dry and the fountain pops was very flat. So I called today I spoke with the owner I went in today he made sure the food was cooked correctly and it was the food was great no complaints on the 2nd time around. That’s the reason for a 2 stars. The cooks need to be properly trained and work faster the cashier should never help cooked the food she was punching on the register collecting money using the same gloves she was preparing food with. When the old ppl that was there they had it all together and was fast and food was hot. My husband and I decided not to go back but we will allow them time to get things together because if they don’t they will lose a lot of new and old customers.
