Cervejaria Ramiro - Lisbon

Waitstaff was excellent. Host and maitre d’ not so much. Food was very good to superb. The menu is confusing as heck. It’s the first time I’ve been to a restaurant in which I was asked to choose my order based on the weight of prawns, clams, barnacles, etc. I’m not talking about picking a 1.25 lb lobster. This was just not a user friendly menu. And my wife and I were not alone in this opinion Wine selection was very good. Tough to go wrong choosing wine in Lisbon. Overall, a good and entertaining touristy restaurant but we won’t be going back on our next trip to Lisbon. Not a repeat kind of place. We made the reservation 3-4 weeks ago and they asked for a 50 euro deposit and texted me 3 more times to confirm we would be showing up. And the final tally was a bit expensive for Lisbon. I found the value somewhat lacking.

So I picked this place for dinner based on the quick glance of reviews I did a few weeks ago. Let me preface this with there was nothing particularly wrong with the food, which is why I rated four stars. This place is STRICTLY seafood. No veggies, no rice, no salad. Only seafood. We both found the food quite salty but that is subjective. We had the clams, barnacles, shrimp oysters. Personally we felt like we needed side dishes of something. Of all our dinners here, we both felt the most underwhelmed here. No flavor stood out to us, it all meshed together. Service was quick and to the point, nothing wrong with it but felt impersonal. Take our review as you wish, we are American for what it’s worth. If I could go back, I’d pick elsewhere to get a variety of flavors.

Love the atmosphere! The seafood quality is great, the giant tiger prawn was super tasty!!

The restaurant was full and very crowded! We waited like 30 min at least. The seafood was okay but ordering it was very hard. The waiters do not know english and they stil act like they do. Also, the boiled prawn was cold. When I go to Lisbon again, I wouldn't go to this restaurant.

It 's the cultivated version of Portuguese fastfood at its best. Excellent seafood (recommendations are the clams, the carabinheiros and the tiger prawns). Sole focus is seafood, that 's what it is all about. And they perform at their best, no frills, no sides just enjoy the seafood.
