Avalon Gastropub - Lihue

I can't emphasize enough how fantastic this place is! The food, drinks, whiskey, and desserts are all exceptional. If you're a whiskey lover, this is a great spot for tropical drinks that you probably won’t find anywhere else on the island. The staff really knows their stuff and is committed to providing an excellent experience every time. The pub steak is outstanding and served with a delicious chipotle butter. They also offer some regular specials that are equally impressive (the "bomb pot" cup in the picture is a must-try). For dessert, we always opt for the sticky toffee pudding, which could easily compete with those found in any Gordon Ramsay restaurant. We visited several times during our stay in Kapaa, even though it was a bit of a trek from the Grand Hyatt. It’s just that good! I will definitely return when we’re back in Kauai.

I recently visited Avalon with a group of 12, and the customer service we received during the booking process was among the best I've ever experienced. They accommodated us with ease and were genuinely happy to do so. Throughout our meal, all the servers provided exceptional service; I never felt like anyone in our group had to wait too long for anything, whether it was refills, appetizers, or anything else. The owner even came out to chat with us, making us feel like part of the family. His wife makes the desserts, and I highly recommend trying the bread pudding. The smoked poutine was outstanding, and the Scotch egg is definitely worth a taste! They truly ensured our experience was memorable, and we will certainly return. Since it was our first time in Kauai, I couldn't have asked for a better restaurant experience. Thank you, Avalon!

The dining experience was outstanding. This was our first meal after arriving, and it certainly did not disappoint. The smoked wings were the best we've ever had, even without any sauce. As residents of North Carolina, we're accustomed to good BBQ and smoked meat, and these wings really set the standard. The Ono fish and chips were precisely what we were craving; they were fresh and the batter was delicious. To top it all off, the flourless chocolate cake and peanut butter ice cream provided the perfect ending to our meal. The whisky mai tai was a creative twist on the classic, plus it was a generous drink. I highly recommend Avalon when you're on the island, just make sure to secure a reservation ahead of time.

Hands down, the best meal I have ever had on this island. I've been coming here for the past 22 years. Could not give this a higher recommendation. Not only is the food phenomenal, but the staff and the ambience are incredible as well. Fir dessert we had the bread pudding, deep fried and it was delicious!

I would highly recommend a meal at Avalon while in Kauai! We had the scotch egg, Asian tacos, truffle fries, fried brussel sprouts, pot pie of the day (turkey, carrots, bechamel, mashed potatoes), and deep fried brioche bread pudding. The Asian tacos were my least favorite but everything else was outstanding. They definitely seemed short staffed but the food was worth the wait. We got there at around 5/6 pm on a Wednesday and were able to get outdoor seating. However, it got busier as the evening progressed and it seemed like reservations were needed for eating later in the evening. Definitely worth a visit!
