The interior is really cool and this place is huge! I love the gate and the lanterns that also lead to the door. This will definitely be a place we often do.
We have gone to Baxter's numerous times cuz food and ambience have been great. We had reservations for Easter eve at 7 pm. Half of what we ordered was sold out but we did have an enjoyable meal anyway. Service was slow but we finished by 815. We waited till 845 to get the waitress to order dessert but she said kitchen was closed at 830 so we couldn't get dessert. Published hours said open till 11 Desserts are refrigerated so take no prep time so I feel we should have been able to get this or informed ahead of time. This was an expensive evening for such service. We paid and left. It was pouring rain so we got car and returned at gate to wait for one of our party who had bad feet only to get yelled at rudely by security guard. Needles to say this was not a relaxing evening for a very expensive meal. We will not be returning
Looking for a luxury vacation for you're tasetbuds? Look no further! It is quite rare that I hand out a 5 star review. If I could give them 10 I would. To start with, they have 24 of their own beers on tap (more available in cans! . You will find everything from a light and crisp Logger Road that is better than a cold drink of water on a hot summer day to a black as a moonless night Wicked Dark that will warm your bones and then some. Our dinner started with pan seared scallops and Buffalo wings (OK...it started with a flight of 5 stouts but who's counting . As a native Mainer, I've had lots of scallops in my life. These were, hands down...THE. BEST. SCALLOPS. IN. MY. LIFE! The bacon, cilantro, and purple cauliflower puree came together in the most amazing way. The Buffalo wings had the smell of the most hard kicking Buffalo sauce you've ever had, but tasted so balanced that I, as a person who's not a huge Tabasco fan nearly fought for them. When my fish and chips came out I was at first a bit disappointed at the serving size of the fish. Then I tasted it...and all was forgiven! Light and crisp batter with a world of flavor! Dessert was a second flight on the lighter side. As was expected, all was amazing! So if you're in the area and haven't been yet, visit the Pub at Baxter. If you're not in the area, make the trip. You won't be disappointed!
Beautiful building and a snapshot in time restored. You can see the canal offchute on the way in. The staff where great and the food was good. Beer selection was good. Great atmosphere!
We loved it, even with the limited menu for food. I had the BBQ and my wife had the bacon grilled cheese. The food was okay, but the beer was amazing. We shared a sampler of five beers. All five were great. My favorite was the Phantom Punch.
